BISD Middle School Teacher Accused of having Child Pornography

The US Department of Homeland Security tells 12News their agents executed a search warrant at a home in north Beaumont off of Tram Road as part of Operation Predator. Officer Greg Palmore says the home of Gary George was searched with the help of Beaumont police. George was not arrested nor have charges been filed.

Nakisha Myles, Communications Specialist for the district, told 12News George worked at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. Sources within the district say George used to work at Austin Middle School but was placed at King when the district closed down Austin.

Myles said authorities found child pornography on the teacher’s personal computer and there has been no connection to any illegal activity on campus. Beaumont PD notified the district of the investigation Thursday.

Myles said George’s status with the district has not changed as the district is investigating and working to verify all facts surrounding the investigation, but has been asked not to return to work until notified otherwise.

Myles  said it is not yet known what action the district will take, but said it depends on the investigation.

“Student safety is and always will be the most important to the Beaumont school district,” she said.
