Baseball at Sam Houston

Cards open the key weekend series at Sam Houston with a 6:30 start.

Sam Houston bats open the game strong in the bottom of the first scoring five runs on six hits. Cards answer back with three runs in the top of the second

Lamar got two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth, but gave one back in the bottom of the fifth for a 7-6 Cardinal lead through six innings.

Sam gets a run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo homerun to tie the game at 7-7. Going to the top of the eighth.

Cards get a run in the top of the ninth on a double by Snell and a Blankenship single. Dallas comes in to close the game holding Sam scoreless in the ninth. Cards win game one 8-7. Game two Saturday with a 3 PM start time.

Tied at 3 apiece in middle of 8th inning.

Cards give up two runs in the bottom of the eigth, will need to answer in the ninth to avoid a loss.

Final score 5-3 in favor of Sam. Sam now holds a one game lead for the WAC Southwest Division championship. Three weeks left, so the Cards will need to win at least one more conference game than Sam over that period. Cards face UTRGV next weekend at home after a mid-week trip to Southern University.
