Gabriel Pruett Column: 11/15

Talk about the monkey off the back for coach Brandon Faircloth at Port Neches-Groves. Friday night was not the first playoff win for the seventh-year coach, but it had to feel that way. For all those who a few weeks ago wanted him out, try getting the man fired now. Your voices should fall on deaf ears. The man has his second district championship, even if it is shared with Nederland, and now he is in the second round after a thrilling win over Dayton. Where are those ‘For Sale’ signs now?? Faircloth has a 51-21 record since taking over at PN-G in 2009. Here is really hoping the Cowboys lose their seventh game in a row today against my favorite team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers……

The Mid-County Madness documentary done by Fox Sports Southwest continues to be a huge success. The video was uploaded to Youtube, and as of Friday it has been seen over 46,000 times. This means people outside of Southeast Texas have seen the special that documents the storied past of the games played between Nederland and Port Neches-Groves. This spotlight can do nothing but good things for the two schools involved in the state’s best high school rivalry.…
