Judge Dismisses Order to Revoke Haynes Probation

BEAUMONT – KFDM News has learned a judge who signed a motion to revoke Jessie Haynes’ probation, dismissed his order late Wednesday afternoon.

Haynes was the BISD communications director. The board of managers Monday voted to terminate her employment.

A jury convicted Haynes in May of obstructing a public passageway at the BISD administration building. Haynes blocked a door in August of 2013 to prevent a school board member and reporter from entering a room.

Judge Langston Adams sentenced Haynes to two years adjudicated probation, 100 hours of community service, and other conditions of probation.  Haynes appealed. Her appellate attorney is David Barlow.

Adams signed an order Wednesday revoking Haynes’ probation based on statements that Haynes didn’t properly satisfy 27 hours of the community service.

KFDM obtained paperwork as part of the motion, including statements from two people at a church where Haynes reported 27 hours of community service at a church food pantry. Haynes provided the Probation Department with a copy of a brochure and newsletter that she created for the food pantry, work linked to her community service.

The statements indicated Haynes did not complete the hours of service.

Late Wednesday afternoon, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion to dismiss the judge’s order to revoke probation, stating that under the law, timely and effective notice of appeal, and a pending appeal, mean Haynes is not subject to the conditions of probation under Texas law.

Judge Adams signed the order voiding the probation revocation.
