Price Lands Big Man

BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar head coach Tic Price took a drive up Highway 69 to bolster his lineup signing LeMon Gregory announced the LU coaching staff Wednesday afternoon. Gregory, who spent the past two seasons at Angelina College, will have two years of eligibility remaining at Lamar.

“We are very excited about the addition of LeMon,” said Price, who is getting ready to enter his first full season as the Cardinals head coach. “He is going to be able to help us in a lot of ways because of his size. During the offseason, I really felt we needed more help under the basket. We had to have some muscle. LeMon helps fill a big need for us.”

Ranked as the No. 16 player in the state of Kentucky coming out of high school, Gregory led Muhlenberg County to a 22-11 overall record his senior year. He success on the court earned him All-America attention as he finished the year ranked among the nation’s top 160 players.

During his time in the junior college ranks, Gregory connected on 58 percent of his shots. The 6-10, 255-pound transfer averaged seven points and pulled down five rebounds per game for the Roadrunners.

The addition of Gregory bolsters a signing class that already consisted of guards Zjori Bosha and Quan Jones and forwards Zachary Hollis and Dontavious Sears.
