Local Jason’s Deli Robbed

BEAUMONT, Texas – Beaumont police officers are investigating an armed robbery at the Jason’s Deli located at 535 Dowlen Road Monday morning.

According to Officer Haley Walters, the robbery happened at 6:20 a.m. Officer Walters said two men came in through the front door while a product delivery was taking place. There were two Jason’s Deli employees and a delivery driver inside the business when the robbery happened.  The robbers are described by police as  approximately 5’6″ and 5’11″. One suspect had a black “beanie” style cap with the words “STAY WEIRD” embroidered upside down on the front. He had a red bandana covering his face and used a black and silver handgun to threaten the employees. The other suspect wore a blue bandana over his face. Police say the robbers zip-tied the employees and forced the manager to open the safe at gun point.

The robbers are believed to have fled the area on foot.

None of the employees reported any injuries.

A spokesperson for Jason’s Deli issued the following statement following the robbery:

“We have much to be thankful for after a scary situation this morning. What’s most important is that no one was hurt, and we’re thankful for our law enforcement’s quick response. We will work closely with them throughout the investigation. Counseling will be provided to any employee who needs it through our Employee Assistance Program. This incident will not interrupt the level of service we’ve provided since 1976. Thank you for all your continued support and prayers.”

Detectives are working to gather further information and will release surveillance video or pictures as it becomes available.
