His left knee throbbed as he writhed in pain on the turf floor of the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, N.D. An MRI in Beaumont revealed a partially-torn knee ligament. But Gillam, a center, continued to play, making him the only offensive lineman to start all 11 games at one position last season. "I toughed it out and played the rest of the year," said Gillam, who described his injured knee as feeling wobbly through the end of the season.
