Jacob Hanna seldom left the field in high school.

Then he went two years without playing a down.

 

That wait ends Saturday.

 

Hanna, a redshirt sophomore, will be the starting tight end when the Lamar University football team opens the season against Texas College.

 

"It's been a while, but it seems like just yesterday I was playing high school football," the Lumberton graduate said. "I'm glad it's finally here."

 

Hanna redshirted his first season at NCAA Division II West Texas A&M. Then he gave up a season of playing eligibility to transfer closer to home.

I like this kid. He has a real nasty side about him on the football field. He loves contact and he has skill position skills!!!

I must say all our guys from Lumberton HS appear to be very talented. Hannah, Gillam, Beard, etc.
