Surprising Stats

Just went to the SLC website and looked a few stats...as you would assume there are some pretty bad numbers in several categories. That said, there were a couple that surprised me.

 

Lamar is the least penalized team (yardage wise) in the league and 2nd in total penalties. I remember last year us being one of the more penalized teams in the SLC.

 

Probably the biggest surprising stat though is we actually lead the conference in Redzone Defense...yes that's right. In 42 trips the Lamar D has allowed only 30 scores (25 TDs and 5 FG) for a 71.4% clip. 2nd is Nicholls UCA at 75%. Opposing teams are only 5-11 in redzone FG attempts. McNeese on the other hand is dead last in this category having given up 27 scores in 29 trips (93.1%).
