What Lamar did in the second half Saturday was an example of something far different. When something didn't go right the first time, the Cardinals showed the know-how and skill to adjust. How else to explain the rushing offense in the second half, when Lamar went from averaging 1.5 yards per carry in the first half to 7.1 in the second, from 23 total yards in the first half to 229 for the game? Most important was a changed blocking scheme. Offensive coordinator Todd Whitten said Southeastern Louisiana slanted its defensive linemen one way or the other, which made the Cardinals' man-blocking assignments ineffective. But a zone-blocking scheme used in the second half changed everything.
