The conversation was a short one, and Andre Bevil was sure he wanted to remain a quarterback.

That was what he told Lamar offensive coordinator Todd Whitten when he asked Bevil last winter if he wanted to play his senior season at a new position.

"There was a time last year when we played with another quarterback, and I think that was a little bit of an eye-opener for Andre," Whitten said.

Now Bevil is the one opening eyes.

His 7.7 yards per offensive play lead the Southland Conference and rank 11th nationally, among all players with at least 150 total yards per game.

Impressive.

I do think we are seeing a different Bevil this year and I like it.
