BRI Staff
Here’s some of what Central Arkansas coach Clint Conque said about Lamar in advance of Saturday’s 3 p.m. game at Provost Umphrey Stadium. UCA is 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the Southland. Lamar is 3-3 and 1-1. Worth noting is that Conque coached in Lamar’s last game before the school dropped football in 1989, when Conque was a McNeese State assistant. Here’s his opening statement from Tuesday’s Southland coaches teleconference: Now we’re gonna take maybe our longest road trip of the year to Lamar, down in Beaumont, Texas. Certainly have learned a lot about Lamar the last couple of days, but did not know a lot about their program. So impressed. Coach Woodard has done such a wonderful job with an upstart program in just two years. You’ve got athletes all over the field. They’re big. Their defensive line is as long as anybody we’ve seen, this year particularly at the end postion. Guest NorthoftheBorder
I would only expect him to say positive things. Why would he want there to be a change here!
Guest CardAmbassador
I find it funny how these guys talk one another up. Coaches will talk another team up all day long. I guess it's a win win situation for them. They get to seem modest, compliment other coaches, if they lose they can cite their previous comments and you don't get peoples hopes up. I hope we make their coach know his words were true all too well come Saturday.
BRI Staff
Ray Woodard wants one thing made clear about this week’s game. He did not pick Central Arkansas as a homecoming opponent. “Somebody else did that,” Woodard said. Central Arkansas is one of the best teams in the Southland Conference. Its quarterback, Nathan Dick, might be the best Lamar sees this season. In addition to looking back at last week’s loss, Woodard talked about him and more during Tuesday’s coaches teleconference: LINK: http://blog.beaumontenterprise.com/inthecards/2011/10/18/coach-somebody-else-picked-uca-for-homecoming/
