Asim Hicks Injured

he was involved in an auto accident was treated and released but has concussion type symptoms and may or may not play Saturday. Coach Woodard doesn't give full details about injuries so we may not know until gameday if Asim is a go or not.

 

Obviously with his play and the injuries to the other starting LB'ers this would be a big loss if he's not able to go.

Quote from Coach Woodard via the Beaumont Enterprise. “I think he’s OK,” Woodard said. “We kind of held him out of practice yesterday. Precautionary. We’ll have some tests to go through. I think it’s more to do with trauma and looking at a concussion – symptoms, I don’t know if he had a concussion. But if you talk to Asim, he’s going to play. We’ll leave it in the hands of the trainers, but I’m optimistic he’s going to play.”

I asked Central Arkansas coach Clint Conque, once an all-America linebacker at Nicholls State, about Hicks in advance of his team’s game Saturday at Lamar.

 

Here’s what he said.

 

He’s someone that you’ve got to account for both in blitzing — because they do like to blitz him — as well as in coverage. Very long, very athletic. I like the length of their core six or seven guys. He’s a guy that we obviously have to know where he’s at at all times.

Talked to Asim last night on the show. He is good people! He reminds me of a strong safety/linebacker hybid. I look for him to reek havok today.
