Lamar to play four FBS schools over 2012, 2013 seasons

When Lamar suddenly had an unexpected hole in its 2012 schedule last week, coach Ray Woodard knew just who to call.

 

And within days, Lamar had a new season-opening opponent.

 

Lamar will open the season Sept. 1 at Louisiana-Lafayette after Louisiana Tech asked out of the game so it can play Texas A&M instead, on Aug. 30 in Shreveport, La.

 

So, instead of receiving a $175,000 payout from Louisiana Tech, Lamar will receive $125,000 from ULL, coach Ray Woodard said Thursday.
