Worked nights last night but I'm here. Will provide live updates/short vids and pics on twitter at

and takes notes for thoughts later. This is dedication.

Stadium jamming ac/dc right now and I've noticed a few recruits visiting on sidelined. Absolute perfect day outside today or I'd be in bed.

Mossakowski making some on the money passes in this drill. And they aren't just bubble screens. #bigredinsider

Here are my thoughts as I attended practice Saturday. When I first arrived they were doing the "Oklahoma drill" otherwise known as "The Pit". During this drill there are cones set up about 10 yards apart. There are 3 defensive players and 3 offensive players along with a RB. The RB is suppost to stay between the cones. The coaches and players were really fired up during this drill and I got excited watching some awesome collisions. Two of the best involved John Prescott and Jordan Garrett. The coaching staff can get a lot out of this drill because they can see who is willing to stick their head in there and take some contact, while others may look great in non contact drills but shy away from contact. Also, they can see if a RB is willing to run hard between the tackles.

Next was 7 on 7 passing drills.

Ryan Mossakowski made some nice decisions with the ball but showed a strong arm. However, he over threw several receivers who were open. I also agree with Mike as he has a long delivery.

Jeremy Johnson showed a quick release. Made some good throws included a great back shoulder throw for about 30 yards. However, he too missed on a few open receivers. Then he needs to work on his fundamentals as he needs to have his left foot in the direction of the receiver he is throwing to and that wasn't always the case which lead to some bad passes.

Caleb Berry looked okay but his deep throws stay in the air a long time which if this was a live drill could get his receiver killed.

I did not see Harrison Tatum.

They seem to be throwing the ball to the backs out of the backfield more than in the past. All the RB's caught the ball well.

Some of the receivers who stood out were Barry Ford, VanLawrance Franks, Jesse Sparks and Reggie Begelton. Zack Sonnier made a couple of nice catches.

I didn't watch the offensive line much but they have a lot of work to do. There was a lot of mental mistakes. Daniel Campbell worked at LT and looks like he lost some weight but he is still huge!

Like 99% of the time the defense is ahead of the offense this early in spring ball.

Here is a look at the current 1st team defense.

DE is Mark Murrill, NG is John Prescott, DE is #33 who name isn't on the roster. ILB's are James Washington and Anthony Beard. OLB's are Blake Chavis and Marcus Malbrough. DB's are Adrian Guillory, Keinon Peterson, Jordan Garrett and Chad Allen.

The move of Blake Chavis to OLB appears great as he was awesome during practice. Could be a big year for him!

Also, I didn't see him with the 1st team but Branden Thomas had a pick 6 off a Caleb Berry pass out in the flat.

Gotta give a shout out to a few former LC-M Bears. Zack Sonnier, Hunter Gonzales and Joseph Viator. Joseph made a couple of nice plays at LB during the practice session.

The weather was great, there was about 50 or a little more people in attendance including Jacody Coleman.

Thanks for the thoughts BR360, I think Mike is going to share his thoughts and interviews a little later.

I obviously can't make the practices so it's nice when I get to hear accounts.

I like what I'm hearing about the intensity and focus that McKnight is bringing to this team.

We had so many small mental mistakes last year.

A great example were the times when Bevil would have to physically move the RB into his correct position before the snap because they didn't understand the plays.

I understand the QB knows the play book better than anyone but it was frustrating seeing that our RB's didn't even know what was going on.

I hope when I come to games next year we're focused, disciplined and just don't get beat in these really simple areas of the game like focus.

If Dorsey is healthy I would expect him to be the NG and Prescott to back him up. The key will be to get strong play at the DE spots.
