Help & Suggestions Wanted!

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

With the rise of fan pages on Facebook and other social media platforms, it’s becoming more challenging to keep our website as the go-to destination for LU news and updates, so I’ve been brainstorming ways to drive more traffic to our page.

In the past, we've had success with live practice reports, coach and player interviews, “Where Are They Now?” stories about successful local athletes and Lamar alumni, and engaging activities like pick'em contests. We even did a pregame football podcast before podcasts became mainstream! Now, I’m hoping to get feedback that will help strengthen our presence and build momentum. Please share your suggestions and help spread the word about our forums to other sports fans. With Lamar’s sports teams seeing more success, we want to keep providing a space for fans to connect and discuss.

One idea I have is to find someone, preferably a student with an interest in media, to cover Lamar sports teams and campus activities for our site. While it wouldn’t be a paid position, it would offer full access to events and valuable experience. We have media credentials that provide access to all sporting events, so if you know anyone who might be interested, please pass this along.

I created and have kept this site online for nearly 15 years. As a sports enthusiast and Lamar alumni, I wanted to provide a space similar to what many larger schools offer—a hub for alumni and fans to gather and discuss all things Lamar. So as long as I see even just a single member logging in and posting, we’ll be here. I just want some help in making it the best it can be.

Thanks,

Mike

Create a fan page that includes teasers of the hot topics of the week.

Not to sing my praises, but the big news today is Rosso's extension and the win over Southern Mississippi.

A teaser with link to the threads about those gets eyeballs.

When you say fan page, are you thinking of like a page on Facebook that provides links to here? Or something different?

We do have a Facebook fan page that I need to start linking more info to. I’d also like active members to sometimes post links to our forum on their social media pages as well to help drive traffic.

Thank you, @TexGator.
