Softball Signs Five Recruits

BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University softball coach Holly Bruder announced that five student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to attend LU and play softball next year.

Joining the Cardinals in the fall of 2016 are Shelby Henderson (Keller, Texas/Keller HS), Caitlin Terrazas (Atascosa, Texas/Southwest HS), Miranda Price (New Braunfels, Texas/New Braunfels HS), Anissa Rodriguez (Schertz, Texas/Samuel Clemens HS) and Samantha Cetta (Tickfaw, La./Hammond High Magnet School).

“I think we have signed an outstanding recruiting class,” Bruder said. “We’re committed to being an outstanding program in the Southland Conference, and I believe these student-athletes will help our program continue to grow.”

Henderson, a catcher and infielder, led Keller High School to a 26-6 record as a junior last season. A three-time academic all-district selection, she was named an All-District 6-5A player as well as being named to the Dallas Morning News All-Area team and the DFW All-Metroplex squad. Henderson hit .398 last season with a school-record 50 RBIs. A team MVP at the 2010 Oklahoma Summer Camp, she plays travel softball for the Mizuno Impulse and Firecrackers DFW.

Terrazas, a corner infielder who also pitches, had nine home runs and 39 RBIs for Southwest High School last season as she earned second-team All-District 28-6A accolades. A two-time All-District 28-5A first-team selection, she was the 28-5A MVP as a sophomore after hitting .371 with 10 home runs and 38 RBIs to go along with an 11-3 pitching record as Southwest High School reach the state semifinals. Terrazas plays travel softball for the Texas Bombers Gold Elite.

Price is a three-time first-team all-district outfielder for New Braunfels High School. She hit .494 as both a freshman and a sophomore before hitting .479 as a junior. She has scored 89 runs and collected 77 RBIs in her first three seasons at New Braunfels. She plays travel softball for the Texas Bombers Gold, helping the team finish second at the 2015 Triple Crown/USA Nationals.

Rodriguez, a pitcher, was a first-team all-district selection at Samuel Clemens High School last season after posting a 20-6 record. She was a second-team all-district selection as a sophomore. She plays travel softball for the Texas Blaze Bonola.

Cetta is a three-time All-District 6-5A shortstop at Hammond High Magnet School. She played travel softball for the Marucci Patriots Gold, which finished second at the ASA/USA Gold Under-18 Fast Pitch Tournament
