Hey guys, hope all is well down in Texas. I'm looking forward to getting back in Boone Pickens Stadium this weekend and covering the game.

As Mike said, feel free to fire away with any questions from X's and O's to "Where should we visit?" questions for anyone making the trip up, and everything in between.

Thanks Brendon and Mike I love this feature. Brendon, how do you feel the SI story will affect the Cowboys focus and play? I know vs my Cards it prolly wont matter much in the big scheme but long term do you see it playing a factor as the season progresses for you guys? and in what area can the CArdinals expect to have any success against the cowboys defense? thanks again!

whats the going rate this year for quarterback sacks? ;D..couldnt resist

is there any animosity towards our ex-OSu players?

are yall gonna run it down our throats or pass it ?

Ha, I was waiting for one of these comments! I couldn't tell you the going rate, but I don't think there's any hard feelings there anymore now that Herschel Sims is gone. I'm sure we'll see some friendly jawing, likely between Okafor and the OL, but I haven't heard any players say much of anything about it.

As far as running or passing, I know the gameplan is to keep a balance. I haven't seen enough of newly-hired OC Mike Yurcich to know exactly what he likes to do yet, but I'd be willing to bet it's heavy pass in the first half based on how quarterback JW Walsh performed last week.

I've been getting this a lot since the first part of the story was released yesterday. Mike Gundy has a way of calming his players down after big stories (See: The Bedlam game after the loss to Iowa State in 2011), but I'm not sure how this one will fare.

I'd be willing to bet it won't do much to the players because quite frankly, none of them know what's true or false at this point since the allegations were 5-12 years ago. There's a healthy blend of veterans on this year's squad that will keep the locker room focused, so I doubt we see much fallout from this at all on the field.

The coaches might be on another story, but we won't see hardly any of that unless major changes are made from the top-down.

what is your prediction for the game? will the pokes cover the 46.5 spread or will the distractions allow us to stay within the points?

I think they will at least get close. The defense has been playing really well the last two games (Ignore UTSA's score, as most of that was against second and third-stringers in the 4th quarter), and the offense really came out swinging last game in the air assault. If they perform anywhere near where they did in the first half against UTSA then I don't see any problem with them covering the spread.

Disclaimer: It's really tough to say with this offense, because for every UTSA reference I make, there's one to go against it from the Mississippi State game. I'm just going with my most recent examples :)

I wartched the first half of the UTSA game and OSU was almost scoring at will. Can OSU run the ball and do they even need to? Mike Gundy mentioned that OSU has a big advantage in special teams. What specifically was he referring to?

That was definitely the case, but believe it or not, they can run the ball as well. Against Mississippi State, quarterback JW Walsh rushed for 125 yards and TD on 13 carries, while RB Jeremy Smith ran 15 times for 102 yards and 2 scores. When they want to run, their go-to play is the diamond formation (shotgun with a fullback to Walsh's right, RB2 to his left, and Smith behind him) and running the zone-read with Walsh/Smith. That's what they had the most success with against Mississippi State, although we hardly saw any of it against UTSA for some reason. I expect more of a balance between the zone-read attack and the passing attack Saturday.

As far as special teams goes, I'm not really sure what he meant. OSU has an elite kick returner in Justin Gilbert, and a solid punt returner in Josh Stewart. Beyond that, they're average at best. Kip Smith has looked great at punter so far, but freshman kicker Ben Grogan had his only field goal attempt blocked due to it being an extremely low shot. Grogan hasn't missed an extra point, though. I say average because I think those two kind of cancel out each other.

Can Kevin Johnson have an impact for the Cardinals against his former team?

It certainly seems like Lamar has figured out a way to make him a wild card. 4 receptions with 2 touchdowns is ridiculous, and he was in line for the kick/punt return spot at OSU as well so I know he's capable of some big plays there.

On offense, he's going up against one of the better secondaries in the Big 12. Justin Gilbert is a physical, strong, and fast cornerback, and a young but extremely talented Kevin Peterson is opposite him. At safety, Daytawion Lowe is in his third year starting with Lyndell Johnson, who moved from LB last year and was considered one of the best players on the field, backing him up. On the other side, Shamiel Gary has played a ton better than he did last season, and his backup Zack Craig is regarded as one of the best coverage players on the team.

Kevin's chance is on special teams if he has one. OSU has been historically bad on kickoff coverage, and part of that is because they kick off a ton. As I mentioned earlier, Kip Smith has done a great job burying opponents in the corners and inside the 20 on his punts, so he may not get much of a chance in that area of the game.

If you were a betting man, which side would you take on the line and the total? I read earlier that you felt OSU would cover the 46.5, but what about the total.

When I work betting lines, I usually go off of Vegas Insider. Right now it says the line is OSU - 46.5, and the O/U is 61.5. I think there's a better chance at taking the over on the total points than anything. Oklahoma State will look to bury Lamar early, and their second-stringers are very capable of keeping that rolling. OSU's second unit on defense gave up 4 touchdowns last week, so that makes me think that there's a chance of that happening again.

Long story short, I think there's a great chance OSU tops 45 points total in this game, which only leaves Lamar to score 17 points. Not completely out of the ordinary to score 17 against OSU, and worst case if Lamar's offense isn't working well then OSU will get the ball back quicker and score more.

But hey, I'm not a betting man, so take that at whatever value you want to put on it.

I'm glad I could hang out with you guys a bit before the game. Feel free to post any other questions here, I'll check it a few more times before kickoff.

I'll also be on-site and updating on Twitter (@brendon_wm) tomorrow, so feel free to follow along and shoot me your questions there.

28 hours until kickoff, hope you're as excited as I am!

Brendon-of the three kids that transferred to Lamar from the cowboys (okafor/johnson/sims) which was the most surprising to you guys in stillwater and which do you think wouldve made the biggest impact there if they had stayed?

Definitely Herschel Sims. Sims was already the third-string RB as a freshman, and would've been splitting time with Jeremy Smith this season as the starter had he stayed. Kevin Johnson was stuck in the 3rd-6th string abyss at wide receiver, and Okafor would be in the rotation a little at D-line, but nothing major. It definitely would've been Sims had his head not got the best of him.
