dirtybird Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Defense played pretty good ? BULLSHIT, they didn't do any better than the offense. I said schedule teams you can compete with, until your program grows more. Last week the LA Tech game was very competitive. How much money do you think T Boone Pickens invest in each of his players ? I bet 10 times more money than each Lamar player. I guess in the 4th, Woodard wanted some 2nd teamers to get a chance to play . I noticed quit a few 2nd teamers in there. Quote
McDonaldGymRat Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Woodard lost his balls with 7 minutes left....does that count as an injury? It could be worse. The name above his office door could be Mack Brown. Then he'd have thousands of OrangeBloods nipping at them. Quote
Guest VegasCard Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I couldve used the late TD to get LU within the 49 points I was getting so I would've at least pushed. Go for those points everytime coach! :) Quote
LAZEEK Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Does anyone else find it odd that the team would travel by bus? I mean you are making my guess at least $400,000 to play up there. Why would you not fly? 11 bus trip on Friday arriving in Tulsa Friday evening, staying in Tulsa and then having to bus into Stillwater before the game. Sure it would have cost likely an extra $40,000 for airfare (80 players/coaches X $400 per ticket), but it just makes sense to me to fly. Still had the expense of hotels and food either way. Quote

Card Nation Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 wow guys. Lets put this game in perspective. We scored just as many points against Oklahoma State as Mississippi State --3-- nice interception and great 44 yd field goal by Stout. If we are going to judge our performance we should judge the first half. I think Coaches assessment of B- to be accurate. I love coach bashing as much as the next guy but only when it is valid. For example, mack brown top 10 recruiting class and team sucks.... That is obviously bad coaching. Lamar basically runs the same offense as Oklahoma State. Same offense, different players, you get my point? Ok state is supposed to win the Big 12. Woodard ran the clock out at the end... So what! Final score 58-3 instead of 72-3. The players showed heart and did the best they could. Berry, begelton, o line and d line were out there fighting hard. I love the heart of KJ. The guy is fearless and tried to make a play for his team. I dont get the negativity in this situation. I say we wait and see how we do in conference against teams we should be competitive against. Technically we should be able to "compete" every time we are on the field, regardless of opponent. But, if Woodard and Kueck are going to approach these games like this (and we aren't going to fire them) then I agree, we shouldn't schedule them. We should just play Bacone and OPSU every week. Guest Cardinalrule Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Last year they got blown out by average FBS teams (at best) so being down 31-3 at the half to a ranked team is an improvement. Turnovers are way down this year. Special teams are still a liability. Like the UCA game last year they choose to spend half the 4th qtr runnning the ball. At least our RBs don't fumble like last year. Defense played well but with no offense they will give up a lot of points. I give them a B- for the first half but a D- for the second half. I must have watched a different game than you. First half: defense F, offense D-. Second half: defense D-, offense F. Coaching, zeroes...dropped out, quit, withdrew. Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Coaches show is Monday night on KLVI at Cafe Del Rio. Good opportunity to ask the coach about these issues. ;) Quote
BSFwins Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 You want to bet no one will show up to question him in person. lol Any one can make a statement behind a username...The only rational question so far was why they bused there?!?! I'd like to know the answer to that question!! Quote

BSFwins Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I I thought maybe since some can't tell the talent level at OSU is far superior to Lamar maybe looking a the net revenue from 2008 for OSU would show just how different these two school are in college athletics. Especially football since the total athletic budget at LU is less than $15 million. I would hate to guess what the net revenue is. I did hear that last year they barely made a profit... Quote
juryman Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 The 2008 net revenue figure was artificially high and includes some contribution money from BP for facilities. The true figure was probably in the $60-$65 million range. Nonetheless, your point is valid. Quote
LUSportsFan Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I guess I'm a cup is half full person. I saw Caleb Berry hanging in under a lot of pressure. Kade Harrington had some good runs. I liked the goal line stand forcing OSU to score on a 4th down play. Our defense stuffed the 'pokes three times at around the 2 or 3 yard line. Too bad we didn't hold them out on the 4th down. I liked going for it on 4th down several times. The plays didn't succeed, but I liked the attempts. Sunday afternoon armchair quarterbacks would have a good point that we could have been a little more conservative in those instances and could have played more of a field position game, but I had no problem with those plays. The 4th down plays killed our field position and made it easier for OSU to score quickly. I still liked the calls. I liked the fact that I didn't see any of our players pack it in. I saw a lot of our guys playing through to the whistle regardless of the score. On the other hand, I think our offense was too predictable last night. The coaches may have felt that Berry wouldn't have enough time to air it out, but it would have been nice to see a few long throws to keep the OSU defense a little more honest. Seemed like they were crowding the line daring us to throw a pass. Seemed to me that OSU's tight stacked defense negated what we consistently tried to do. Even if we sent some receivers on a sideline fly route and then intentionally threw a long ball out of bounds, seems like OSU might have something else to think about. Like others, I was very disappointed with the play calling at the end of the game. It seemed almost like we were running late to catch the plane home and just wanted to burn clock. I hope I never see our team trying to run out the clock when we are behind. If I were playing, I would want to try to score. We didn't worry about risky plays early in the game. We certainly should not have at the end of the game. On a high point, we did have a few extended drives against the #12 FBS team. Although the score was not as close as I would have liked, it was close to what I expected. I just wish we had not played to run out the click at the end. Field position was a definite minus for us. Some of it was self inflicted by the unsuccessful 4th down plays. Way too much was self inflicted by our kicking game. I had seen a lot of improvement in the kicking game the last couple of seasons. I didn't see that improved play last night. Sent from my Android device using Tapatalk 2 Quote
coachacola Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 I can't wait until next year when Lamar takes on Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M!! Quote
Guest austinred Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I know these are money games but I wish LU would not play top 10 FBS teams. They were clearly overmatched by Ok State but I think the team is much better than last year. Only one turnover. The offensive line played well enough to allow LU to move the ball and pick up first downs. Didn't get our QB killed. Looking forward to conference play. I think this is the year they become competitive in conference. Quote

Guest LU 17 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Here's. What pissed me off. I played at LU many years ago and we beat # 20 Baylor and lost a couple years later to UH 42-35. I do not believe our talent level is 59-3 behind Ok state. We gave up and quit trying to win early in the second half. We tried to run out the clock. We are better than that. I believe in this years team. It could have b een closer than this. Shame on coach Woodard for giving up. Quote
