LamarAlum Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 here we go again. we have no business scheduling either historically top 25 FBS or any NAIA teams because they don't give us a good picture of our conference competition, and because OF THE NATURE OF THE GAME injuries will occur and why get injured in a game that does nothing to help you prepare for conference? Everyone understands we play Okie State for money. I wish we had better financial support from our alumni so we dont have to go play a game everyone knows and everyone predicts we are going to lose. That Okie State blowout loss will hurt attendance at home for the rest of the year like any other blow out loss. A guaranteed win is important to Okie State....thats why they pay so much to us to come in for a beating. They are willing to risk injury to there starters for the first half to get that guaranteed win. I hope our guys are not demoralized. I wish we could move up to FBS also. I also wish I could win the lottery so I could donate $500K and get us out of that ridiculous game with atm next year. i dont think a blowout loss to OSU will have any impact on home attendance...this weeks home attendance will suck cuz of who we are playing... I wish I'd win the lottery...I'd buy out woodards contract...and pay SFA to hire him as their head coach I agree we should get rid of not only Woodard but also old foul mouth Kueck with his terrible play calling since none of the players or coaches (except for Woodard) like him. Guest mendelj Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Lamar Card 81 - I went to the game last Saturday and I was everything but embarrassed. Our boys fought until the end and there is nothing embarrasing about that. I was extremely proud of those young men which is much more that I can say about this BigRedInsider Board on some days! LUSportsFan Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Lamar Card 81 - I went to the game last Saturday and I was everything but embarrassed. Our boys fought until the end and there is nothing embarrasing about that. I was extremely proud of those young men which is much more that I can say about this BigRedInsider Board on some days! That was the impression I had while watching the game on tv. I really liked the goal line defensive stand in the 3rd qtr. when OSU got the ball to our 2 yard line thanks to an interference call. It took a 4th down play for them to score. (Looks like OSU starters were still in at the time. Walsh was still quarterback.) It's hard to compare from one game to the next, but here's a defensive comparison of OSU's offensive production by opponent this year. We weren't the best in any of the stats, but we weren't the worst in either. Total Passing Attempts Compl AvgYds Total Rush Attempts Avg Yds Mississippi State 146 33 21 4.4 286 40 7.2 UTSA 518 43 35 12.0 87 32 2.7 Lamar 271 36 23 7.5 155 38 4.1 In addition to the scholarship imbalance, one of the differences was that we gave them a short field a lot of times. I still think there were some positives out of the game that can be built on. 1. Several extended drives - just need to get the points also 2. goal line stand 3. Holding OSU to a 39 yd field goal after they started on their 47 yard line. Quote
juryman Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I have to agree with 81 and LUSportsFan. I have attended all but 2 OSU games over the last 7 years. Lamar's effort was good. I seen a number of teams, including Big 12 teams completely fold when they got in Lamar's situation. Lamar kept fighting. Most people don't realize that the OSU receivers scoring the late touchdowns were not scrubs, but well regulars. The quarterback at the end was the starter at the beginning of the season and is still trying to prove he should be the starter. The effort was good, but I still want to see them win games in conference. Quote
coachacola Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 There were a lot of big blowouts this weekend. Baylor, U of Miami, Ohio State and Louisville all scored 70+ points in their games, and not just against FCS teams. Miss State (that OSU beat) killed Troy 62-7. ULM (which got blown out by Baylor) beat Gramling State 48-10 a few weeks ago. Quote
