I have to admit, the Cardinals "team" has went toe to toe with possibly the best team in FCS. Offensive line still concerns me. We are giving up to many sacks and no holes to run through. What hell, Go Cards!!!

I was at the game. At halftime I was excited that Lamar was hanging tough, and take away a few mistakes, should of been leading. Midway in 4th its like someone on offense forgot what they were doing. Why did they stop the short passes ? seemed to be working in the 1st half. Its pretty tough for 5 guys to block 8 guys, I don't care who you are. Why didn't Lamar offense play caller pick up on the blitz? IM proud how Lamar went into this game, players playing hard, and not being intimidated. Defense was great tonight. Special teams punt coverage not so good. Offense line I thought did their job pretty well. This had to be the hottest football game I ever watched. I saw 4 people pass out at concession stand. 2:00 starts not very smart in my oppinion

So we either have to go with the assumption that Sam is not very good or not nearly as good as the last 2 years, or you have to assume that LU has made improvement. Sam is probably not quite as good, but I think the larger reason is improvement. Of course that will prove out with the rest of the season and the subsequent performances against the rest of the league. Only time will tell. It would be nice to win 3 or more conference games.

I agree , Lamar is a lot better team this year. I kept waiting for Sam to blow it open like some predicted, never happened. Lamar had opportunities today to win, and against a really good Sam defense. I think Lamar just needs to build confidence in them selves. I think today was a boost for Lamar, they hung tough. Now take it too the next level, and win.

Massey Ratings has SHSU rated #1 in offense so holding them to 14 points is oustanding, especially at their place. I also liked the fact the LU offense was able to move the ball in the first half instead of a bunch of 3 and outs. SHSU made adjustments at halftime and basically shut down LU's offense, but the defense didn't give in!

After the Bacone game Woodard said the team needs to go 6-2 the rest of the season to have a chance at the FCS playoffs. That means they have to win the next 5 out of 6 games. Doubt LU can do that unless the offense can improve.

I noticed in some tweets and in the boxscore that both Jayce Nelson and Robert Mitchell played. This was a big game, does this mean we'll see more of them? I thought they were going to redshirt Mitchell this year.

I noticed Nelson made a nice catch in the game. I did not notice mitchell in the game??? He is a quarterback . I hope that he didn't play

the box had him with one carry for minus 1?

Congrats to the Cards for what appears to be a great game today. I imagine your game film will be studied by a LOT of coaching staffs on the key to slowing down the SHSU offense.

Where is Nickels?????? ;)

Hmmm. I see that. I thought they were red shirting him as well. Interesting. If the box score is not an error, i imagine we will be seeing more of Mitchell this year. Mitchell is a fantastic athlete

Defense played like champs. Looks like Sam made some changes at the half on defense. That changed our O. Big improvement from the last two seasons playing a big national ranked opponent. Sam realized this was a dog fight. I hate for us to lose, but this shows we can compete with the best of the SLC. Let's move forward and make our corrections.

Didn't get to see a whole lot of the game but it sounded like the defenses did the taalking on both side.

I'm sure people will get the film, but let's be honest, I tihnk most people know the plan of selling out to stop Flanders. It worked for the Cards today, it doesn't for most teams and I venture to guess it won't for many more this year.

The Bearkat defense is pretty good, not as falshy as last year, but in reality they are better in some ways.

I think you guys will make a little noise as the season plays out.

Good luck.

Mitchell did not play today. The box score is in error.
