Just for fun here is my take on a two deep roster for LU's Offense, I'll do a defensive one tomorrow or someone can try their hand at it. I broke some of the positions down farther (speed v. power RB)

WR-split end:

JJ Hayes

Kevin Smith/Kendrick Prejean

WR-Flanker:

Marcus Jackson

Barry Ford

WR-Slot:

Josh Powdrill

Van Lawrence Franks (small and speedy)

Power RB:

Depauldrick Garrett

Cody Hussey

Speed RB:

Mike Venson (JJ could be here if not at QB)

Octavious Logan

Blocking TE:

Billy Chavis

Kevin Davis

Receiving TE:

Jacob Hannah

Payden McVey

LT:

Anthony Oden

Emone Bailey

LG:

Daniel Campbell

Taylor Davis

C:

Kyle Gilliam

Billy Dawson

RG:

Colton Collins

Cameron Epple

RT:

John Woods

Jacobson Joseph

QB:

Jeremy Johnson/Doug Prewitt (no preference here, far too early to call)

(If Prewitt is QB JJ moves to RB #1)

Alright, Discuss! Show no mercy tell me where I'm wrong, BTW, the TE was the toughest position to call.

I pretty much agree with you with a few changes

WR-split end:

JJ Hayes

Kendrick Prejean/Kevin Smith

WR-Flanker:

Marcus Jackson

Barry Ford

WR-Slot:

Josh Powdrill

Torre Henry 6'2, 185 lbs

Power RB:

Depauldrick Garrett

Cody Hussey

Speed RB:

Mike Venson (JJ could be here if not at QB)

Octavious Logan

Blocking TE:

Billy Chavis

Kevin Davis

Receiving TE:

Jacob Hannah

Payden McVey

LT:

Anthony Oden

Cameron Epple

LG:

Daniel Campbell

Colton Collins

C:

Kyle Gilliam

Billy Dawson

RG:

Taylor Davis

Cameron Epple

RT:

John Woods

Jacobson Joseph

QB:

Jeremy Johnson/Doug Prewitt (no preference here, far too early to call)

(If Prewitt is QB JJ moves to RB #1)

I think I only made three changes but with Johnson 6'2, 185 he may be light for the pounding of playing RB. Plus, the view and the way you read blocks is a lot faster at the RB position.

I see him as a slot receiver to take full advantage of his speed and quickness.

Jeremy Johnson is the fastest at 4.35 in the forty and Branden Thomas is second at 4.38.

Thanks, I knew one of the corners was lightening fast, I just wasn't sure which one.

They have put the 2011 Football guide up on the Lamar Athletics website and it has the preseason depth chart along with a whole lot of other info. Looks really good.

Good Eye! This is chalk full of good information I've been looking through it for at least the past 15 minutes.

I believe this was done before the start of preseason camp. At least the depth chart for sure was.

I was thinking the same thing. Several of the preferred walk-ons were not on the roster. Still have yet to see Rashad Stewart or Adam Martin mentioned anywhere.

Unless Anthony Beard has not fully recovered, I can't see him not getting significant playing time and pushing for a starting berth. Too much talent, pretty fast for a LB and a big time hitter.

Gotta remember this is preseason and we don't really know when it was put together, probably coming out of the spring and well before Aug 1st.

Man, there is a ton of information in there. I agree as it isn't an updated one but the whole media guide gets an A+ from me. Great job!

I like the amount of history and records available to browse through. They have each football season all the way back to 1923 our first year a as a school.
