coachacola Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 LU has no business losing this game. If they lose this game then there better be changes to the coaching staff or they will have a losing record next year too!!!! Quote

lu cards Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 congrats to the team and coaches!!!!!!!!! Quote
Vroo Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 It was even more fun cause about half the crowed left with about 2 minutes left. Sure did miss a great ending. Quote
KABrother88 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 At least someone on the coaching staff has some kind of common sense...I'm sure KJ feels out of place at safety but he isn't doing this team any good only being a return specialist Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 This has to be a good win for the 4th & 5th year seniors on this team. They are the ones I am most happy for!! Quote
dirtybird Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 The whole team worked for this win, Congrats. A lot of fun to watch. Lamar has quite a few underclassmen do pretty well. The last Lamar field goal, the ref blew whistle after 1st attempt, that was good, because SFA band was playing. Made Lamar retry field goal, that was also good. That's a bunch of crap, that could have cost Lamar a win. A lot of bad calls or no calls against Lamar tonight. Now SFA band was playing all night long. What's up with Lamar's band ? they were pretty quite. Quote

We play exactly where the athletic department wants us to play, after most plays on defense and after first downs on offense. We have been doing this all year. The SFA band could have been called on multiple occasions for playing after our offense was set. If that had happened, the last time would have been a penalty. I agree it was an awful call that could have gone really bad had we missed the 2nd attempt. The only place we didn't play, where we usually do, is on kick-offs. That is because the SFA band played every time we are not going to play over them because that would sound like crap! Some of you on here just complain... Nothing to complain about football... Let's take a shot at the band! How about we support all the football players, and student participants, cheer, dancers, and band for a GREAT job tonight and a nice win for the Cards!! Go LU!!! Quote

Sorry I offended you, I wasn't bashing Lamar's Band. Sorry if I was quick to respond. It was a great game and the fans that stayed were wonderful. Really wish we could pack the house, like that first season! Also, just trying to explain why and where we play in game situations as not to interfere with our own play calling. Again, great win and participation from all!!! Now let's beat McNeese!!! Quote
Card Nation Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Fantastic game, fantastic effort by players and coaching staff. Here are a few of my thoughts. 1. Great play calling. Mixed it up all game long. OC has taken alot of heat and he deserves credit tonight. 2. Caleb Berry was Brilliant tonight. Best game I have seen him play. He set another record for most receptions in a season. The guy was just awesome. 3. Regarding KJ. After what i saw tonight, we may be seeing him play safety in the pros one day. It will be fun to see him progress on D. Interesting how things work themselves out. 4. Alex Ball rocks. Thanks to the players and coaches for putting it together tonight. it was fun to watch. LUSportsFan Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Fun game to watch. Highlights for me. 1. Cards driving the ball down the field for a td right after SFA scored the opening TD. 2. Onside kick recovery and the 2nd TD. 3. Score saving interceptions and breakups. There were several including KJ's great catch in the end zone. 4. Blocked kick for a TD. 5. Defensive stand on 4th down to get the ball back for the winning field goal. 6. We got burned on several long SFA TD passes, but the were some critical defensive stops that aided in the win like the one where SFA had to settle for a field goal after a 1st and goal. 7. Speaking of field goals, I never thought we could win the game settling for field goals, but 4 scores did it, especially the last one. 8. Half time - both bands put on a great performance. Really enjoyed the trumpet, trombone, and drum line spotlights. Looking forward to next Saturday. Sent from my Android device using Tapatalk 2 Quote
LU 17 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 That on side kick was executed to perfection. You could see the front row on the return team starting to retreat as Alex started to approach the ball. The timing was perfect. Only thing I saw that was negative on the play calling was that read option. I don't know if it is a straight hand off to Harrington made to look like an option or if Berry didn't want the ball. Harrington was already being tackled on a couple of those plays. The outside looked wide open if he would have pulled the ball out and kept it. Berry was very good in the passing game. Beggleton is just a workhorse. They always talk about winning the offense, defense and special teams. We had 500 yards of O, we had 3 INT's and a big 4th down stop and a punt block for a TD. A great come from behind win. Quote
Birdseye Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I loved the effort that KL made on the on the long run by Johnson. He simply just ran him down and tackled him at the 1. He even made an effort for the strip. Even though SFA scored on the next play it gave Lamar a shot to stop them. To many times I see players give up on that play. Quote
