eagle eye Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 NFL.com is reporting that while Northwestern QB Kain Colter is waiting on a pending ankle surgery he is leading the fight to form an NCAA Football Players union with support of the United Steel Workers union. It was reported that Northwestern players, led by Colter, initiated and signed a petition to be submitted to the National Labor Relations Board to gain union representation. 30% of the team needed to sign to validate the petition and, while no percentage was given of how many of the Northwestern players signed the petition, the report said an overwhelming majority of the players signed the paper. Meanwhile Colter will be rehabbing his ankle for 10-12 weeks after his surgery which will put him in April before he can schedule a pro day for NFL scouts. Colter will, for sure, miss the NFL scouting combine and in the few practices he did make at the Senior Bowl they worked him out at wide receiver rather than QB. It seems he may have a better future as a college player advocate rather than a pro football player. Quote
