A bunch of kids from the Dallas area this year. I think Dorsett was the flip from North Texas someone mentioned earlier.

You may well be right. He does show an offer from UNT but I haven't seen anything that he committed. I posted him a a guy to keep an eye on due to his Twitter activity in response to tweets from our coaching staff...will have more clarity Wednesday when the faxes start rolling in. Looking like a lot of talented new blood coming in. OL with great size & skill players with speed for days. Still wish we had more info on our DL recruiting. Poster earlier said we had a DT transfer and Ty Robertson was coming back but still would like to see more depth...looks like we have a lot of DB candidates this cycle

This may very well be the best class signed to date, and I hope it is, but I still say we need at least one DL stud if we can sign one!!

I agree...I'm excited about this class and we may have a DL we just don't know of yet...seeing the coaches utilizing Twitter to display their excitement is great too. Our OL is what I'm the most excited about. So far we have

Matt Oubre - SO - 6'1" 290 lbs

Ethan Cothen - FR - 6'4" 270 lbs

Corey Nance - FR - 6'7" 260 lbs

Jesse Brewster - FR - 6'7" 285 lbs

Hayden Kaaiohelo - FR - 6'5" 285 lbs

Joseph Gonzales - FR - 6'4" 275 lbs

Averages out to nearly 6'5" 280...impressive considering the lightest one has a frame to add plenty of weight. Add this on top of Allen, Ward and Wood from last year.

I would expect Oubre to get a look at C with Treadway & Craven at G and Allen & Brock at T.

More on Duncan McVey from Burnt Orange Nation:

Perhaps the most under-the-radar name on this list, and another big guy with receiving skills playing in a run-heavy offense. According to the Houston Chronicle's statistics, Deer Park ran the ball roughly three times as often as they passed it during the regular season, and McVey was the team's second-leading receiver with 12 catches for 237 yards and one touchdown. As a junior he caught 7 passes for 107 yards. He's 6'4" 220 and appears to have a good understanding of the game, along with a good pair of hands and a mean streak when blocking. His senior year clips on Hudl run for a combined total of around 3:30, so he doesn't have a great deal of public film highlights and I'm not sure how high to rate him yet, but he's definitely a player colleges in need of tight end help should check on.

His older brother Payden McVey is a senior tight end at Lamar University, and has caught 60 passes while starting games in each of his four seasons in that program. Lamar is one of the few programs recruiting Duncan, but he has no offers yet and says none of the interest he has so far received has been from the FBS level.

Wow. I posted a while back that I had seen he had been involved in an accident and needed surgery right afterwards...didn't know any other details though. Prayers for all involved though...sad situation

25+ new kids? How many scholarships we have? Ray clean house?

That's what I've been wondering. I'm sure some guys are preferred walk-ons and we'll find out if they aren't announced tomorrow. An earlier post said 3 Navasota players committed one night but only knew of one name...so there are 2 more we don't know

Here's 18 players I've identified that either graduated or no longer on the roster:

Montez Hunter - SR (DB)

Mark Roberts - SR (WR)

Robert Mitchell - FR-HS (QB)

Rex Dausin - JR (QB)

Caleb Berry - SR (QB)

George Orebe - SR (DB)

Anthony Beard - SR (LB)

Joe Okafor - SR (DE)

Chance McCormack - SR (OL)

Seth Blendermann - FR-HS (OL)

Tramon Shead - SR (OL)

Seth Barrow - FR-RS (WR)

Payden McVey - SR (TE)

Kevin Johnson - SR (DB)

Cort Harris - FR-RS (WR)

Jaed Gieseke - FR-HS (DB)

Kevin Gunnells - SR-SQ (LB)

Keith Curran - SR (DE)

Maybe a few more players are leaving, some commits might defect, some of these commits are preferred walkons and some will be on partial scholarship. We'll know soon enough.

Just curious....a walk on doesn't commit, do they? What's the point in that?

The school offers some guys as "preferred walk-ons" (guaranteed spot on the team but not given a scholarship)...so in a way they do "commit" to play for the school. These guys aren't binded to the school until the report for classes. So if another school comes in with a late offer before they attend classes they are free to sign with them and play immediately. Many times these guys even ceremonial sign on National Signing Day but aren't signing a Letter of Intent.

So I noticed Jasper WR Chris Spikes who was committed but didn't sign posted an Instagram picture in a Lamar shirt with caption of #Lamar #Blessed and his Instagram bio still says he's committed...wondering if he's having to get grades in order before he can sign. Hope he signs.

A Jasper resident told me today that what he was told was WR Chris Spikes hadn't signed his LOI yet because he was waiting to see what kind of interest he would get on the basketball court. That is his preference and if he doesn't get the offer he was looking for he still planned on signing with Lamar for football.

Now the question would be did Lamar hold a spot for him?
