KABrother88 Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) Add another player to the Lamar signing class...this one a TE from the JUCO ranks in DeAndre Jennings from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. [tweet]575283952673402881[/tweet] Jennings caught 12 passes for 114 yards and 1 TD last year...not great but his team only averaged 164 yards/game through the air on the season http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2726904/deandre-jennings Edited March 10, 2015 by KABrother88 Quote
KABrother88 Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Klein Forest WR Alvin Phillips (5'10" 185 lbs) has accepted a Preferred Walk-On spot...he was a first team All-District selection in a very good 15-6A district http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1656810/alvin-phillips Quote
lu cards Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 was told by one of the coaches that there were going to focus on building up the walk-on program. Quote
KABrother88 Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 At the FCS level walk-ons are crucial. With FCS only getting 63 scholarships you have to be able to get quality walk-ons to create sufficient depth. The only advantage FCS gets is they can divide the scholarships where at FBS, all 85 are full scholarships. I think some of the walk-ons we've got this year like Phillips, Logan Hare and Chase Marler look to potentially be quality players. I know both Phillips and Marler had offers to play D-II but chose to walk-on at Lamar. Think that shows our recruiters are doing a hell of a job to convince a guy to turn away at least a partial scholarship to come here and fight for one. Quote

KABrother88 Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Looks like another potential walk-on will be Jack Dillard, a 6'5" 235 DE from Magnolia HS. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/681662/jack-dillard Quote

KABrother88 Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Carthage OL Trevor Broadway appears to be another potential walk-on. Played RT and lists himself as 6'4" 255 on Hudl (film is private). Will need some bulking up before he sees any action. Quote
KABrother88 Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Looks like Jasper WR Chris Spikes is now planning on heading to Kilgore JC. Quote
oldrock Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Thank you KABrother for inviting me over to this site. Sure feels good to see my sons name on the roster at Lamar and I hope to be at all the games this Fall watching my son play for my old college. Quote
KABrother88 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 Glad to have you and you boy on board oldrock...looking forward to seeing him solidify the OL. Feel free to post often...as I said, talk gets a little slow over the summer but picks up in August...I just have no life so I'm on here way too much lol Quote
KABrother88 Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Looks like another walk-on will be Camreyon Jackson. He played QB at Houston Milby HS in 2013 then transferred to Fort Bend Marshall HS for 2014. He was rated as a 2-star QB by 247 while at Milby but his profile wasn't updated when he transferred. 247 profile lists him at 5'11" 172 lbs but his Hudl lists him at 6'2" 185 lbs. Looks closer to the 5'11" listing to me. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2894946/camreyon-jackson Quote

KABrother88 Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Another addition to the 2015 Lamar team will be RB Luis Lopez out for Trinity Valley CC. He was a big part of his 12-0 TVCC team this past year rushing for 1240 yards on 153 carries (8.1 y/c) and 18 TDs in 12 games. In 2013 he rushed for 482 yards on 61 carries (7.9 y/c) and 8 TDs in 11 games. He's was listed on the TVCC roster as 5'7" 220 lbs and his Hudl days 5'8" 215 lbs so no that's not a misprint...kid is a bowling ball but can scoot. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2722321/luis-lopez Quote

KABrother88 Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) Much needed addition to the OL [tweet]611709201149071360[/tweet] 6'4" 290 lbs http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1713452/dante-cattaneo Looks like he was a full qualifier out of HS and after 1 year at JUCO he had a 2* rating on Rivals and offers from FBS San Jose St and Marshall to go along with it but went back to Santa Rosa JC for his sophomore season. After doing a little more research it looks like he was actually out of football last year. Graduated HS in 2012 and his 2 JUCO seasons were '12 & '13. '14 will count as his RS season so he'll have 2 to play 2. Quote
KABrother88 Posted July 18, 2015 Author Posted July 18, 2015 Looks like another addition for the 2015 season will be former Port Athur Memorial WR Trenten Swinton. The 6'1" 200 pounder spent the 2014 season at the Naval Academy Prep School. Should have all 4 years of eligibility left. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2372222/trenten-swinton Quote
