This link is to one of the most famous April Fools jokes in sports history. The feature article from Sports Illustrated in their April 1st 1985 issue about "The Curious Case of Sidd Finch". It's a story about a prospect in the New York Mets organization that was so fantastic it was hard to believe. Trouble was a lot of people believed it mostly because people are gullible and there was no disclaimer by SI to say George Plimpton's story was a hoax. People wrote in to SI for weeks wanting to know about the mysterious Mr. Finch. If you have time check this out but I want you, it's a fairly long aritcle.
