Conference home games include Sam Houston State and Southeastern Louisiana as well as newer members Houston Baptist and Incarnate Word. The head coach at Incarnate Word, Larry Kennan, should be familiar to a lot of Cardinal fans. He was head a head coach at Lamar from 1979-1981 before leaving for an assistant coaching job with the Los Angeles Raiders. OOC home games include the following: Grambling (FCS) - a program with a ton of history. Grambling will have a new coach following a tumultuous season last year. Texas College (NAIA) - located in Tyler, TX. Lamar opened the 2011 home season against Texas College. Mississippi College (Transitioning to D-II) - The Choctaws will be in their second year of transitioning from D-III back to D-II and back to the Gulf South Conference. (They were members of the Gulf South before dropping down to D-III in the late '90's.) They have a new head coach.
