LU Strong Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 WBCP2 said: A&M will be able to put up whatever numbers they choose. However, I would like to see LU go into the game with some confidence and a nothing to lose attitude. At OSU we were scared to death and intimidated. Even the cocky KJ was sooooo intimidated he was tip toeing out of the end zone on ko and they were nailing him at the 10 yard line all night. Of course, being a transfer from OSU I'll bet their boys put the word out to KJ they were coming after him, which probably shook him up and understandably so. The big key for LU's offense this game will be Berry. If he is scared again, like he was at OSU, we will sputter and be lucky to score. If he moves in the pocket some he will find open receivers. There is no reason why Roberts won't be able to blow by those dbs I saw last night now and then. I hope to see a game similar to the Sam vs A&M last year. I'm new to this forum. Lamar has good D1 receivers that can go against anyone. They have receivers transfer in for FBS colleges this year. They have speed with hands too. The question is Berry's accurate to hit them on target n 3-4 seconds and be mobile against the rush. His drop back is short. His needs to drop back at least 3-4 more yards and back and move out the pocket from time to time. The line will hold majority of the time. Texas AM defensive backs didn't impress me at all. They got burnt several times with speed, especially #29. If Berry is accurate we score at least 3 times. Lamar's greatest weapon is passing the ball, then open the field to run. Quote

While his receiver was the one who caught the first deep ball (Nick Jones), it was (and is) pretty apparent the safety on that side (#31 -- Howard Matthews) tried to jump the underneath route run by the slot receiver, and left nobody over the top. Not the CB's fault. http://www.brobible.com/sports/article/dylan-thompson-nick-jones/ On the second deep ball, the defense was (apparently) in cover 3, but the safety (#23 -- Armani Watts) chased the TE across the field and left the deep zone completely uncovered. #29 was responsible for the sideline/underneath routes, and followed the slot running a flat to the outside. He did NOT have deep assignment on that play, but tried to catch up when he saw the deep ball thrown anyway. http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/south-carolina-football/dylan-thompson-damiere-byrd-touchdown/ So sleep on Deshazor. He is absolutely going to de-cleat one of your receivers. Then what are you going to do, run the ball? Edited September 4, 2014 by FrankWhite'56 Quote

LMAO, now I've seen it all. Hey Frank, I'm pretty confident you'll be able to head back to texaggy with your chest pumped out after this weekends hard fought victory over Lamar. Your dumpster fire of a defense may even look decent versus an FCS school at home too! It'll be a fun night at the Dixie Chicken afterwards buddy!! Edited September 4, 2014 by \m/ Quote

Everett is a good one but I don't think he's a speed CB...IF we can get Berry enough time I'd like to see us take a shot to Roberts over there. LBs are thin for A&M right now with 2 out with injury...according to Sumlin, Tommy Sanders (who is starting now) is better in coverage so we need to run at him when we do run...not up the gut like against Grambling. Safety Howard Matthews was terrible last year in coverage and refused to cover wheel routes...I would like to see us attack there and hope for a big play or 2 Quote

No; was actually attempting to discuss defensive coverage shells... unlike some who come here to lurk around and make pointless comments while they are serving out their 2 week ban on Shaggybevo for starting too many threads about David Ash still being in early Heisman contention despite the nasty headaches and constant ringing in his ears. Which is all fine -- after your dear 'horns get escorted to the wood shed each of the next two weeks you'll probably lose interest and go back to playing Worlds of Warcraft in your parent's basement. I know lots of aggies and have some in my family and they are, for the most part, great people until they start talking aggie football!! Then they somehow morph into obnoxious JA's!! Quote
LU Strong Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Sounds like you covering the Db's mistakes. I just called what I seen. I'm a Lamar fan and down 100% with Lamar. If there is a weakness in any team u take advantage of it. Any team can be beat on any giving day. I believe in winning against anybody til the scoreboard shows 0.00 on the clock at the end of the game. Underdogs have won, I'm down with Lamar to win. If you think your going to lose before the fight starts, why show up. The game is 80% mental and 20% physical. It's not the size of the dog, it's the size of who's HEART wants it more. If Texas A M head coach respects Lamar team ability, Beaumont city and Lamar college should back it's team 200%. I don't believe in losing and Lamar shouldn't either. Beat Texas AM .....WIN LAMAR WIN Quote
LU Strong Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Berry drop back now is 1-2 yds from the shotgun to pass. Maybe on quick slants or hitches its ok. Passing 25+yds down field his needs a 4-6 yd drop back for more time to plant and throw, plus that gives him time to see if other receivers are open and be mobile to move outside the pocket if possible. m Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 (edited) Indefinitely must mean a couple hours of practice to Sumlin at the new Thug U but hey these guys have SWAG.
