coachacola
Lamar University has set an all-time enrollment record this fall with 14,889 students, college officials announced today. That is a 6.1 percent increase from last fall, the university reported. "In large measure, the growth was due to sharp jumps in international students, graduate engineering enrollments, and on-line graduate education students," said Kevin Smith, senior associate provost in a prepared statement. This fall, Lamar saw increases in new first-time-in-college freshmen (up 1.2 percent over last fall), transfer students (up 32.8 percent), and graduate students (up 119.1 percent), the university reported. http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/news/article/LU-sets-record-enrollment-5775802.php?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
NorthoftheBorder
Good deal. Hopefully next fall we will break the 15k barrier in enrollment. A 20k enrollment Lamar with at least 8k students living in on campus housing would be a real boon for Beaumont!! And for the athletic programs!! lu cards
I heard lamar is finally going to allocate some land for a greek row.that should really help lamar with campus life.lamar needs to keep buying up all land around campus so they can and create a green belt between campus and those crappy neighborhoods.hopefully it continues. KABrother88
We heard that Greek Row crap when I was there from 06-10...I'm not holding my breath...truth is Lamar Admin didn't like Greeks anyways. I would love to see it happen though because I think it not only helps the enrollment but it would help out the atmosphere at athletic events as well.
