KABrother88 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Something I've noticed with several of the offers that have gone out is that that we are offering sets of teammates. Of our reported offers, there are 2 players from PN-G, 2 players from Fairfield (plus we just signed one from there last cycle), 2 players from Strake Jesuit, 2 players from Manvel, and 3 players from Crosby. I'm wondering if this is a tactic that helped us secure 3 really talented players from Navasota last year in offering teammates that might be quite comfortable with each other and might like to play together at the next level? KABrother88 Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 After watching film of most if not all of the recent offerees 3 have stood out to me. Manvel QB Kyle Trask looks to have a very good arm in terms of both strength and accuracy. Toward the end of his film he shows decent mobility. His size is a big plus to me. With some of the tall OL we have recruited the past couple of classes, having a 6'6" QB would be beneficial. One aspect that might work in our favor is that Trask isn't even the starter for his team. Their QB1 is 4* ATH D'eriq King who is committed to TCU. The 2nd guy is Fairfield LB Jarett Carpenter. WOW. I hate to say this but don't see any way this kid doesn't end up at a low end power 5 school at a minimum. I'd love to see him as a Card but his size and film scream FBS. Great pursuit, good tackler, plays fast and violent. The 3rd player is Galveston Ball DL Jerry Blanks. He played DE in HS but I could see him as a WILL LB in our 3-4 set. His highlight tape is quite short but the plays on there are quite impressive. Shows good bust off the ball and flys to the football causing havoc in the backfield. Has some violent tackles on there as well. It's still very early in the recruiting process so FBS offers may be on the way for many of these guys although we have signed several the past couple of classes that have picked us over and FBS offer or 2. KABrother88 Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 The Lamar coaching staff is Hosting 4 summer camps over the next 3 days along side Colorado St. and Texas A&M-Commerce. These are part of the "Satellite Camps" that have been of some controversy of late in the NCAA. There will be 2 camps in the Houston area (6-10 at Pearland HS & 6-11 at Cy-Falls HS) and 2 camps in the Dallas area (6-11 at Euless Trinity HS & 6-12 at Mesquite HS). Good chance for the staff to get an up close look at some of the guys they have offered and some guys who will potentially be offered. Quote
KABrother88 Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 Article about JUCO offeree Jamal Fontenot's impending college decision. The article states he is planning on signing with a school on June 21st. He was a full qualifier out of Beaumont Central (qualified late) so he can come in immediately and doesn't have to graduate from Kilgore. Lamar offered after he qualified for D-1, and after his 1st year at Kilgore. He currently has only 1 FBS offer and a host of FCS offers. Here's to hoping he will finish out his college career at home. http://www.scout.com/junior-college-football/story/1553704-decision-coming-soon-for-fontenot Quote
