Not much to argue about. Injuries will determine who goes far. McNeese was really beat up at the end of the season. We have several injuries this season, too. McNeese needs to develop some depth in case we get more injuries. Lamar needs depth as well.

An outsiders view:

Preseason power polls are fun, but mostly a crap shoot. Too many unknowns.

Lamar, UCA, Northwestern State, ACU could all make a case for top position in the middle of the pack group. Here's the argument for ACU: We ended the season on a high note with W over SFA and that momentum has carried over into off season workouts and fall camp. ACU returns virtually all of its skill position players--QB, top 4 running backs, 5 senior wide receivers, a senior tight end who has been an integral part of the rotation for three years, our kicker, punter and deep snapper--and more preseason conference players than any of the other teams in this group. Our front 7 on D should be improved over last year. An all new secondary is our biggest question mark. And I agree that injuries can and will make a difference. It's hard for FCS teams to develop quality depth at every position. Injuries take a toll.
