QB 22 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 How can anyone justify having more first team selections than anyone, almost half of the offensive team and only win five games and thw wins include Bacone College!! smfh Quote
KABrother88 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Offense was not our issue. Of course everyone knows what Kade did and the OL played very well. Reggie ranked 2nd in catches per game, 9th in yards per game, & 3rd in TDs...and did that when defenses knew we were going to him. To be honest I was surprised he was 1st team but thought he should have been 1st team in 2013 when he was only give 2nd. Defense was the major issue. Only placed Larance Hale on any team but he was more than deserving. He ranked 8th in the league in tackles, and 2nd in both sacks and TFL. Led all DL in all 3 categories. Quote
coachacola Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Defense sucked and both QBs were hurt for most of the season. Defense lost the NWST and Nicholls games, and probably the SELA game too. Harrington and Begelton were certainly deserving. Quote
QB 22 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 The offense sucked against McN "as they didn't think they could stop Kade" from the mouth of Ray. Translates they couldn't make adjustments to counter act this. The things that come out of his mouth is unbelievable!! One more year of this stuff as teams will watch this film and if they cannot answer it will be another 5-6 season. Hope y'all are ready and pray Kade doesn't get a hangnail as the backups didn't get in reps in the games that where decided by the fourth qrt. Two winning records as a head coach in his career maybe three as his resume doesn't add up in a lot of places by date. Quote
KABrother88 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 McNeese gave up 11 points per game all season...their defense is extremely good...you can't just the entire season's offensive production off of one game and certainly not that one. We scored 7 points on their D and SHSU (who had the league's highest scoring offense) only managed 3 against their D. Plus McNeese had a bye week to prepare for Lamar. Why would we come out differently than what had worked for us all season? Classic battle of the unstoppable force and the immovable object...and we saw the end result. The coaching staff did try to adjust as we got away from Kade in the 2nd half but the QB play didn't do is any favors. Even in the first half we couldn't produce anything passing. Quote
dirtybird Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 A far as the offense line goes, when you have a 2,000 yard rusher, and only give up 6 sacks on the year, you must be doing something right. Those boys never get attention unless they are doing bad. You really need to just sit back and see what all the o linemen really do, its not just block the man in front of you. Quote
QB 22 Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 With all this good stuff going on why only 5 wins!! It is going to be very hard to have a winning season next year. If they cannot pass they will stop Kade because they will bring more than they can block!! Bring in someone who can run the no huddle spread and put this talent to use. Option, draw, and stretch play is their offense. Haven't figured out their pass offense yet and evidently they haven't yet either. They need to go thru the hardest offseason, spring drills, and fall camp ever to find out who will and who want. The defense needs a lot of shotgun alley like everyday because you can't hide in that drill. Argue or disagree what they are doing isn't working. Keep Kade out of contact and everyone else is live!! js Quote
Moodysmood Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 The defense wasn't this bad under Bradley, and they were solid last year.....what happened? Or better yet what changed? Quote

Two winning records as a head coach in his career maybe three as his resume doesn't add up in a lot of places by date. not defending Woodard but there weren't any games decided by the 4th qtr where we left Kade in. Also, a running back is NOT a qb. A qb needs reps a running back really doesn't; it's pretty much you are good or you're not. Kade had 70 yds against McNeese. Not a bad game unless you compare it to what he did all year. our passing game was awful and once again our defense couldn't stop the run Quote

I think the sacks allowed stat is a little misleading because our pass offense was crap. I bet 80+ percent of it was sprint roll outs (especially early in the season) and quick dink and dunk throws. They did a very good job blocking for Kade and he did an incredible job making the most of what was there Quote
cardinal Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 The defense wasn't this bad under Bradley, and they were solid last year.....what happened? Or better yet what changed? I'm baffled by how bad the defense was this year, not really sure. It seems like we were either out of position, blowing coverages, missing tackles or getting mauled at the line of scrimmage depending on which game you pick. Some games had all of the above. Our defense was full of a bunch of trash talkers and not enough playmakers and, I think, poor schemes. Something drastic has to happen on the defense. Starting with the line. It seems that Tebo took a step back this year as did jones jr (at lb) and most everyone else on the defense. I was also disappointed in Moss. I thought he'd be a big playmaker this year and he did nothing. I hope Christiansen gets in that weight room, he seems to have tremendous upside as does #40. The defensive line HAS to get much better, bigger, stronger. Quote
Moodysmood Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Well that's a shame. I wasn't able to attend many games but I do stop by practice every once and a while. It seems like they practice with purpose. I just found it odd that I would always see Wooderd in the stands talking on his cell phone every time I happened to stop by. Just seemed odd for a head coach not to be coaching when the players are practicing. Quote
KABrother88 Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 I thought Christianson played very well considering he was a true freshman that had never played LB before coming to Lamar...he was a WR who occasionally played Safety in HS... Quote
Moodysmood Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Well....I'm proud of all of those young men that made the team. Congratulations boys! Quote
CS Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Coaching. Period. We need a change, immediately. We need changes everywhere. The motorcycles lining up at the beginning of the game? Stupid. Change it. Change everything. Crowds don't show anymore, and the ones that do aren't that into it. I'm sick of it. Quote
coachacola Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Here's how LU has done according to Massey's composite rankings since bringing back football (and record against D1 opponents). 2010: 90 (2-5) 2011: 103 (2-7) 2012: 89 (2-8) 2013: 72 (3-7) 2014: 48 (6-4) 2015: 73 (4-6) After the first 2 years there was slow and steady improvement until this year. I would argue that Woodard hasn't done a terrible job and seems to know how to recruit, but seems to keep making mistakes with his coaching staff. The first DC left after the first year so Woodard coached the defense the next year and the defense sucked. He hired Bill Bradley and the defense improved but he kept Kueck as the OC so the offense sucked. Kueck retires and the offense improves but he promotes McGallion to DC and the defense sucks. My guess is that the next two years we'll see more baby steps in the right direction, Woodard gets a new contract, then the team takes a few steps backwards again. Since Lamar doesn't have much of winning tradition, I think that's probably good enough for the LU athletic department and the big money backers. Quote
SportsGuy Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 From FootballScoop: Lamar University (FCS-TX): Following Craig McGallion’s retirement, Lamar University plans to go outside the staff to find a replacement for the defensive coordinator position, per source. Quote

QB 22 Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 Matt Burnett he likes HS school coaches!! Quote
BigNasty92 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Matt Burnett he likes HS school coaches!! Except for ones that got fired in Silsbee. Quote
puddin tane Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Kueck may not have been Miss Congeniality , but the offense broke a lot of records. Quote
QB 22 Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 Who got fired in Silsbee he didn't like?? The whole staff is related!! Cmon Big Nasty, with a screen name like that I bet you scare a lot of people!! My real name is Glen Hill bro!! peace out Quote
QB 22 Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 I think Matt would be a great addition to the defensive side of the ball. He was a great player at LU and became a good high school head coach. Lost n the finals one year. No nonsense, slobber knocker player who has been my friend for man years. Unfortunately I don't get a say n the hire. All I know is the chances r he couldn't do any worse. peace out Quote
Skinny1 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 IMHO, this is by far the best offensive line we have had in the new era. I questioned the play calling on the early downs, especially the McNeese game and think we became predictable. Like Geezer, I would like to see an option of a power running back for the short yardage situations. The issue is the defense on this team. Tebo had an off year versus last year, but was hurt much of the time. We do not seem to have a linebacker that the opposing QB has to worry about every play, and I think the issue in the secondary is the lack of technique and/or speed. Opposing recievers were open on the deep routes and a ton of pass interference penalties caused by poor technique or out of position. Also was confused by so many substitutions during the game. Seems we had 3 defenders being changed out every play. Also not sure who the leader is on our defense, you could tell #48 on McNeese was the leader on that team though. Quote
