KABrother88 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) The Lamar University Athletics Department has joined forces with ESPN to deliver live coverage of home men's and women's basketball games for this season and home football games beginning with the 2016 season. The package starts tonight with a basketball doubleheader against the University of New Orleans. The women's game will start at 5 p.m., with the men's game slated for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. All nine remaining women's home games and eight of the nine remaining men's games will be on ESPN3. The Jan. 11 men's game vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will be televised by the American Sports Network. http://lamarcardinals.com/news/2016/1/4/MBB_0104164210.aspx Edited January 4, 2016 by KABrother88 Quote
coachacola Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 SFA also has a deal with ESPN3 so it's nice seeing LU doing the same. Quote
coachacola Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 we get any $$$ for this? My guess is LU gets no direct money from ESPN, but it ups their national exposure and maybe more advertising revenue goes to LU. Quote
KABrother88 Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 Could also potentially help with recruiting if a kid and his family know that half the games can be watched from home. Obviously they would probably rather have those people in the stands but I'm sure some families can't afford to travel to every game. Quote

I use Google Chromecast to cast ESPN3 to my TV and it is a great picture. Quote
Privateer6 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Congrats on the deal with ESPN. It was nice to be able to watch the UNO/Lamar game on ESPN3 and I look forward to checking out the Cardinals much more often now. I hope the Privateers do something similar soon. Quote
