eagle eye
Lamar CB Brendan Langley made a nice impression at this past week’s Senior Bowl. Go figure why but he was a member of the North squad and he got some positive notice this past week and he also got some praise for his play from NFL.com’s Mike Mayock during the game which included an interception. CB’s are a valuable commodity in the NFL and if Brendan continues his upward swing at the NFL combine it could go a long way toward him being drafted in April. On CBSSports.com player rankings they have Langley ranked as the 21st ranked CB in the draft and the 170th ranked player overall. He is listed at 6’2” on the Lamar link below but on CBSSports.com he’s listed at 6’0” and 199 lbs. Either way he’s got good size for a CB and the resume in the link below speaks for itself. http://www.lamarcardinals.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2619 Langley was named FCS All American following a good senior season picked off a pass by the South’s Antonio Pipkin from another FCS school, Tiffin University in Tiffin Ohio. Go figure, a Lamar kid is playing for the North squad while a kid from Ohio is playing for the South. Langley and Tiffin were two of just 4 FCS players invited to the Senior Bowl. For the day Langley recorded three tackles and the INT in his first formal audition for NFL scouts. Back on January 4th Langley was given an invitation to go to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis Indiana that will take place from February 28 through March 6. Only 335 players are invited to the combine with 55-60 of those being defensive backs. Folks, this is a big, big deal so congratulations to Brendan Langley. The early reports on him are that he’s a fluid athlete with speed and his experience as the SLC leader in INT’s his senior season will serve him in good stead. Langley’s six picks on the season was good for a tie for 2nd in the entire country including FBS schools. http://www.lamarcardinals.com/news/2017/1/4/football-langley-invited-to-nfl-combine.aspx Langley’s accolades came flooding in after the 2016 season as he was named to 3 All American lists. http://www.lamarcardinals.com/news/2016/12/20/football-langley-listed-on-third-all-american-team.aspx I believe Brendan Langley has a good shot at being drafted in April and his showing in Indianapolis next month will be key to his chances.
