I thought the same thing. Zero DB's in this group too. Could see some position changes in addition to late transfers.

I thought we got a transfer from Ark. St. last year, but sat out for some reason. Don't remember his name, but was from Longview and was considered as a safety.

I was searching the internet to try to find any kind of rankings on FCS recruiting classes to see how we stacked up. I came across this (2016)

https://saturdayblitz.com/2016/02/04/yale-coastal-carolina-lead-2016-fcs-recruiting-rankings/

I had NO IDEA we had the 4th ranked recruiting class last year!

SHSU was ranked #1 this year by some sources, and SFA should be ranked high with 29 signees this year.

I'll try to simplify this as much as I can cause it's kinda complicated.

Most rankings you see of this matter (which includes the article posted) comes from 24/7's composite ranking. Their composite rating is some kinda crazy formula that calculates an average score for a player based off of his rating on the 4 major recruiting networks (24/7, Rivals, Scout, & ESPN). This is why you'll see two scores for a player on his 24/7 page. If a player is not rated by a network, he will not have that composite calculated so it's only an average of the networks that do rate him.

I have figured out what a few of the scores translate to in the composite and that's why I say it's crazy. a Rivals 2-Star is rated as a 5.2, 5.3, or 5.4. 3-Stars at 5.5, 5.6 or 5.7 and so on for 4-Stars and 5-Stars. A Rivals 5.4 translates to a composite score of 81.11. That is actually a 3-Star in the composite. If 24/7 rated the player at a 2-Star 79, his composite comes out to 80.04. Technically still composite 3-Star even though he wasn't rated as a 3-Star by any network.

In terms of class ranking, only the player's that have a composite rating above a 70 (which is the lowest it can be) are calculated. A composite 70 is equivalent to unrated Unrated players have zero effect on the team rankings. Additionally, FBS transfers are not calculated it either. Therefore SFA class would be at 27 vs our class at 18. When you look at the latest 24/7 Composite we are actually at #2 in the SLC and 154 nationally counting 130 FBS schools. That would put us in the top of 25 FCS. We now rank ahead of SFA (we've leaped them since they have finalized who signed where) because we have 7 players rated to their 6.

And also when you look at the 2016 article posted, you could really consider that class at #3 nationally. Coastal Carolina was in their final FCS season as they transition to FBS so they were recruiting player to play 3 of 4 seasons at least at the FBS level.

I hope I didn't confuse everyone too much.
