Lamar hosted their Pro Day this past Thursday for a host of scouts. Most of them were there to see CB Brendan Langley but it was good for the other guys to get some exposure with 10 teams in attendance. The only results I've see posted are that OL Bret Treadway pumped out 34 reps in the bench press, RB Kade Harrington recorded a 35" vertical and S Xavier Bethany had a 9'-9" broad jump. Treadway's 34 reps would have been good for a tie at 3rd at the combine and just one off the leaders who had 35. Harrington's vertical would have been top 10 among RBs at the combine. Harrington was participating only a couple months removed from being released from the Dr. after his foot injury in October. After Langley, Harrington and Treadway are probably the most likely to get a shot at the next level so they probably benefitted the most by having multiple teams there. Other players that were there participating were:

WR - Reggie Begelton

TE - DeAndre Jennings

DL - Omar Tebo

DL - William Wowkonyan

K/P - Juan Carranco

WR/DB/KR - Kevin Johnson

I saw recently that Begelton signed with the CFL's Calgary Stampeders (haven't seen if it was a full contract or camp invite only). Interesting to see Kevin Johnson still giving it a shot.

Couple of more results for Harrington via the Beaumont Enterprise...22 bench reps (would have been good for 4th among RBs at the combine) and he ran a 4.56 40 (would have been good for 14th among RBs). He was also disappointed in his time as he said he's always been a 4.4 guy. Either way running a 4.56 this short of a turn around from resuming football activities is a feat in itself.

Kade hasn't played in so long you almost forget about him. He would be an excellent 3rd down back in the NFL. This is a deep RB class in the NFL this year so it may be he gets picked up as a priority UFA. Somebody would be getting a big bargain if that's what happens IMO. Dallas lost Lance Dunbar to free agency and he was a small school guy who made it. I would be tickled to death if Kade was picked up by Dallas. A good slot receiver who can also play out wide is not as easy to find as you might think and that's Reggel Begelton. Reggie reminds me of Oklahoma's Sterling Shepard who went to the NY Giants in last year's draft. I hope Reggie catches on with a team this year. Both Houston and Dallas can use another good CB and Brendan Langley is a prime candidate. I thought he got a bit of a bad wrap at the Senior Bowl when Mike Mayock talked about him failing in coverage a couple of times. Despite that he did get a pick in the game and with his speed and athleticism he really should be a late round pick at least. According to CBSSports.com's player rankings Langley's rated the 29th best CB in the draft and is projected to be a seventh round pick. Personally, I think he's better than that. His combine numbers say he is too. He ran a 4.43 40, did 22 reps on the bench and he had the 2nd best shuttle time, 11.19, of all the CB's at the combine. He made a slight detour as a WR for a season before he requested the move back to CB when he was at Lamar and his instincts in this matter were spot on. Linked below is a nice article about Langley from SECcountry.com as they talk to him about his thoughts on his move from SEC power Georgia to SLC Lamar. Makes you want to root for the guy even more.
