OL coach Jamal Powell has left to take the same position at SMU under new HC Sonny Dykes

Ditto. I have ZERO optimism heading into next year.

Need to get Langston back to coach the o-line.schulz shouldn’t have let him get away in the first place.

Langston was a good O-line coach. He was in over his head as OC. Hearing there's a little more shuffling of coaches besides this.

Bill Bleil is the new OL coach to replace Powell. Coached at Iowa State, Rhode Island, and Missouri Southern State.

Agree 100% with this.

We’ve apparently turned into an FBS factory for OL coaches lol...we’ve had 3 land FBS jobs in the last 12 months with Langston (North Texas), Brad Bedell (Boise State) & Powell (SMU).

Southeastern lost their head coach during important recruit visitation weeks prior to signing day.

Yep...took the DC job at UL-L. Central Arkansas, Northwestern State and Incarnate Word are also going to be under new coaching staffs next year as well. Florida State also offered McNeese HC Lance Guidry an “senior position” on the defensive staff but Guidry turned it down.

Also looks like Matt Oubre will be a GA for the OL this upcoming season. Coach Powell had pulled a GA with him from James Madison when he came here but it looks like he followed Powell to SMU as well.

A little more shakeup has happened as someone previously mentioned. 2 other coaches have been removed from the athletic website in CO-DC/LBs Melvin Smith and WRs Kevin Brown. Per Bobby Dodd’s Twitter he is now coaching RBs instead of TEs. Last season’s RB coach Eric Buchanan is still listed there on the athletic website and based off of Twitter activity, he is still a part of the staff, so he must have shifted to another spot. He coached DBs before Lamar so he has experience on the other side of the ball as well.
I suspected that Melvin Smith would be gone. Troy Douglas is still listed as co-DC, which implies to me, that they are still looking for another DC. What's with all the quality control positions?

Buchanan is now listed as the safeties coach on the athletic website. Last season’s safeties coach Cam Clark has been moved to linebackers and also elevated to Co-DC. New OL coach Bill Bleil hasn’t been added yet and neither has a new WR coach of one has been hired yet.

In reference to the “Quality Control” coaches...they are more of your Graduate Assistant type coaches that assist position coaches, organize practices, put film together and such.

I heard Bobby Dodd has moved back to TE coach. The new WR coach is hired but hasn't been announced. Earp is working with the RBs, not sure who will be in that position. I hear the kids like coach Bleil which is hopefully a good sign in that he seems very knowledgeable from what I've heard. Spring practice is right around the corner. Can't wait! #PeckEm

Bill Bleil was formally introduced at the presser. 2 openings left to fill. Spring starts Feb. 22 I believe.

The athletic department has formally announced OL coach Bill Bleil, WR coach Adrian Madise and TE coach Bobby Dodd. We discussed Bleil previously in this thread and Dodd was announced since he went from a GA to a full-time role. Madise comes to Lamar from South Oak Cliff HS in Dallas. He is another former player under Schultz at TCU from 99-02. He was a 5th round selection be Denver in the 2003 NFL draft. I find it interesting that with Eric Buchanan still listed as moving to safeties from RB, we will apparently have a GA coaching RBs this season.

I met Coach Madise last night at the Willie Ray Smith Awards.
