KABrother88
The 2018 schedule hasn’t been released yet but based off of other schools releasing theirs you can get a start to what the schedule will look like. Of the 4 current open dates, 1 will be taken for a bye and another for the 2nd out of Conference game. Currently here are the options for those weeks 9/1 - Bye, OOC or Sam Houston 9/29 - Bye, OOC or Nicholls 10/6 - Bye or OOC 10/20 - Bye, OOC, Sam Houston or Nicholls Conference wise, everything else so far has been a mirror of 2017 with only locations reversed. So it looks like more than likely end up like this 9/1 - OOC 9/8 - at Texas Tech 9/15 - vs Northwestern State 9/22 - vs Southeastern Louisiana 9/29 - at Nicholls State 10/6 - Bye 10/13 - vs Incarnate Word 10/20 - vs Sam Houston State 10/27 - at SFA 11/3 - at Central Arkansas 11/10 - vs Houston Baptist 11/17 - at McNeese State I’m assuming the delay in announcing has to do with us finding a 2nd OOC opponent which seems like the delay that happens every year. Realistically that’s game could be played on the 10/6 date but I know that is not the ideal place to put it since that would effectively mean you don’t have a Bye since it would be Week 1. If the Bye is 10/6 that gives 5 games before and 6 after.
Dracula
I thought that the first game was against A&M again. I read that on something from last year, I think.

KABrother88
The 2018 schedule was finally released and as expected the conference schedule will be a mirror image of last season. The final OOC game will be the season opener vs NAIA Kentucky Christian. http://www.lamarcardinals.com/schedule.aspx?path=football
KABrother88
One notable change from previous years is that now the September home games are set for 6 PM starts instead of 7 PM and the October and November games are at 3 PM instead of 6 PM. Sept 6pm. too hot for the weenies and the gray hairs, that's why we went to 7pm....... and, dammit, people will not go to afternoon Lamar games...its been done... what idiot did this? this is head scratching stuff Edited March 7, 2018 by puddin tane
puddin tane
I'm guessing he's the idiot? "I like the times we're playing," said Schultz. "I like the 6 p.m. start in September because I believe that is easier on our media. It gives them the time to cover our games as well as to be able to meet their deadlines. It will also be easier on our kids and our fans as well. I'm really excited about the new game times this year"

I'm really excited about the new game times this year" 1) I've NEVER been less enthusiastic/optimistic heading into a football season than this one. I think I was more optimistic when we didn't even have football. 2) I thought Schulz was a good hire. After about 3 games last year I realized he was an awful hire. Obviously there is a reason he's never had a head coaching job...he's dumber than a bag of rocks. 3) We are coming off a 1 win season. We are losing what fans we had...so lets move the kickoffs to 3 oclock or 6 oclock. NEWS FLASH: PEOPLE AREN'T GOING TO SIT IN 100 DEGREE TEMP, WATCHING A QB SCRAMBLE, AND A TEAM LOSE...AT LEAST START THE GAMES AT 7 SO WE CAN BE RELATIVELY COMFORTABLE WHILE WATCHING THE PAINT DRY!!! 4) I'm going out on a limb and predicting a 2 win season. 1 vs the sisters of charity in the first game and we will luck out and beat one of the other sorry teams in our conference. (Will anyone be handing out paper bags before the game...I'm not sure I want to be seen in public rooting for a 1 win team that passes worse than a jr high)
puddin tane
I'm stuck between 1 win and 5 wins...too early for a prediction

Even the 7 PM starts are bad for the first quarter or so early in the season. That damn sun sits right between the edge of the west side stands and the Montagne...
