Skinny1 Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Glad to see the NAIA/D3 level teams go off the schedule. Kentucky Christian was a Woodard/Henderson selection to get a cheap home game and a sure win to start the season. Both Born (AD) and Shultz have said no more teams of this caliber. Quote
KABrother88 Posted September 7, 2018 Author Posted September 7, 2018 (edited) Glad to see the NAIA/D3 level teams go off the schedule. Kentucky Christian was a Woodard/Henderson selection to get a cheap home game and a sure win to start the season. Both Born (AD) and Shultz have said no more teams of this caliber. I’m not quite sure if that’s the case. Before the schedule was released we knew every game that was scheduled minus KCU. The Tech game had been on the books for a couple years and the conference generates their own schedule and teams announce their schedules when it’s filled. Lamar was one of the last, if not the last SLC to release its schedule for this season (and pretty much every other season). I also want to say the question was asked to Schultz at the signing day press conference about the schedule and they said they were looking to fill one last game which ended up being KCU. Either way I’ve said it until I was blue in the face that these games just aren’t beneficial. There are plenty of FCS teams in the region with the SWAC to get some home and home agreements arranged. We played Prairie View one season and had a home and home with Grambling the next 2 seasons but that’s been it. The Coastal Carolina game was pure luck. They were moving to FBS and playing their last FCS season as an independent. They couldn’t get their schedule filled because their former conference teams basically tried to boycott them.
