Mike
obviously losing Coleman is huge but Woodard says hes still confident in the defense. Expects James Washington, Anthony Beard and Asim Hicks to all step up DePauldrick Garrett feels he's ready and wants to play but will not be released yet. So he will not suit out again this week. Jacob Hanna has received reps at RB with Logan a little banged up and Garrett injured. Woodard feels the win vs SELA was his biggest win as a coach. Woodard is also surprised that there were still a couple thousand tickets still available for the game Saturday. He feels that the team is 3-1, 1-0 in conference and they have a good team in NW State who's coached by a local guy coming to town, that the game should already be a sell out. I agree with him. Guest CardAmbassador
Glad to hear DPG will be coming back, (Thought he was out for the season) with the development of Venson at RB and Garrett back we will have a good running attack to go with our passing game. TBonesLU
Echo that, CA. I would hope they keep the gameplan they had last week. Use Venson as the explosive RB he is and allow Logan to back him up when Venson needs a break. They should be fine as long as they don't give up on the run game. I'd like to mention that. Regardless of how much SELA was shutting Lamar's running game down in the first half, the coaching staff still called the RBs' numbers. We needed that as it opened the passing game right up. I can't wait to watch the game Saturday night. Hopefully, we can come away victorious so I can drive happy into downtown Dallas to hang out with Candlebox before their show (being friends with the lead singer is always fun). Hussy would have played at SELU and against NWST if he would have stuck around.

Guest bigred360
I don't because NOTB was going on and on about the forty times of Garrett and a couple other players. I don't have a problem with him thinking that way as he I can tell NOTB is a good man from years of interaction with him. If you ask him I bet he doesn't think Hussey got a fair deal. Hanna can run a 4.5 forty so I think he can make some plays for us at RB.
Guest CardAmbassador
He was being facetious I know, but it was to commentate about Hussey IMO. Its whatever. Like BR360 said I'm sure NOTB is a great guy we just don't agree about everything. I hope one day we can meet because I like anyone that cares about the Cards. Go Big RED! Guest NorthoftheBorder
Here's the unadulterated truth. I think Hanna has skills that are useful to the team. I don't want to see him get buried at the RB position do to a stereotype mentality. I would rather see him play TE or LB or DE or somewhere where he will get a fair shake and be able to help. I don't think it is unreasonable for fans to have players they like and want to see play. We all want LU to win and want the best players on the field but we all have different opinions of who should be playing. That doesn't make us right, but it also doesn't make us wrong. Whoever starts and plays, as long as LU wins then the fans will be ok. I am afraid that if there is any player issue that is hampering attendance, it is with Prewitt. He acquitted himself well last year for a walk on underdog story. People like underdogs.
TBonesLU
While I respect your views, I think people need to get over the thing with Prewitt. Because he did great last year doesn't necessarily mean he will do the same this year. Bevil is clearly much cleaner passing the ball and more clear-headed than he was last year. He knows what it takes to win as much as Prewitt does.

He looked really good agains SELA last week, but he also looked good against them last year. I am not rooting against him or LU. Just stating that I think this could be why this game hasn't sold out when it should be.
TBonesLU
No, I understood that. And when I said what I said about "people needing to get over the Prewitt thing", I was referring to the people not coming to the game, clearly not you. The kid just won SLC Offensive player of the Week so if theyre staying away because of him playing, then just stay away for good. Hunting season opening likely has more of an impact than any other reason. The team is winning, its beautiful weather vs a good opponent, the game will be a sell out. Walkup ticket sales is not a unique thing to just Lamar University.

I don't want the coaches to play players just because they think it might help attendance, there are Lamar grads from all over the state that come to these games. TBones and I are great examples of this. Anyways I'll just say that I disagree about the being white wont get you a fair shake at the running back position. There have been plenty of good white RB's and they put Hussey on the team last year didn't they? This is a different year, DPG and Venson are clearly better IMO and I don't care if they're running behind a better line or not. Comes down to Octavius and Cody. Coaches like Octavius more than Cody for some reason, maybe it was because he is a good returner.
