geezer Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Denver is out of the Summit League (D1) conference including former SLC member Oral Roberts. After the first period the Lady Cards are trailing by five at LU 20 - Den 25. It's on the road and from conference strengths the two are probably fairly comparable as both are likely one bid only conferences for the NCAA Tourney. Quote
geezer Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 Halftime and LU now up by two at 43-41. Denver is out shooting LU 50% to 35%. Lamar has 5 turnovers to 10 for Denver but LU has 11 personal fouls to 5 for Denver. Rebounds are about even. As the score indicates a good tight game. Barrs and Hastings each have three fouls. Last year Barrs getting in foul trouble is what ended LU's bid for the conference tourney title and NCAA bid if I remember correctly. Hopefully LU has a little more depth than they did last year. geezer Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 End of the third quarter and Denver has retaken the lead 67-63. Pimental has fouled out and the foul trouble is really hurting the ladies. Kinard has been having a great game and that has kept Lamar in this game. Quote
geezer Posted November 24, 2018 Author Posted November 24, 2018 24 seconds left and LU has the ball but will have to make a basket or get fouled as they can't run out the clock. Quote
geezer Posted November 24, 2018 Author Posted November 24, 2018 Denver hits a three with one second left on the clock to tie the game at 87. Heading to overtime. Quote
geezer Posted November 24, 2018 Author Posted November 24, 2018 Denver scored last to tie the game again at the end of the first overtime period. Denver won the game in the second overtime by five points (115-110). Barrs and Cowart both fouled out in the second overtime. Kinard did her best to carry the team scoring a game and carreer high (I believe) 58 points. Ultimately it was free throws that cost Lamar the game as the ladies only shoot 52% from the line and get outscored by seven at the free throw line. Quote
