Guest bigred360
The injury bug has hit the RB position pretty hard as Logan dislocated his elbow and it could be a season ending injury. JJ Hayes looks good and he should be able to practice Wednesday. The Cardinals are staying in Austin Friday night and will have their Friday walk through in the bubble on the campus of the University of Texas. I didn't hear the name of the hotel they are staying in but I know the guys will be excited about practicing on the UT campus.
coachacola
I'm surprised they'll get to practice in the bubble at UT. Maybe Woodard and James Brown used their UT connection for that. It's good JJ will play but they really need Marcus Jackson too. I'm surprised they haven't found a way to get Jeremy Johnson more playing time. Guest bigred360
With all the injuries to the RB's I'd give him a look there as you know he has the skill set to play the position.
coachacola
In the Cards blog entry on Logan: Running back Octavious Logan suffered a dislocated elbow Saturday and could be out for the rest of the season, coach Ray Woodard said Monday night during his weekly radio show. The loss of Logan would leave Lamar without two of its three leading rushers. Logan, a senior, has rushed 26 times for 174 yards and four touchdowns. He would not be eligible for a medical redshirt. AggiesAreWe
Speaking of Jeremy, he enjoyed Silsbee's homecoming game Friday night.

I would be cautious in having an injury happen to our QB of the future. I hope they don't bring him in at RB. He's a scrambler, not a between the tackles guy. Jackson is hurt again? Guest bigred360
That is a nice stadium you guys got in Silsbee for a 3A school. I passed it on the way to the Lamar game after picking up my mom and stepfather in Merryville, La. (Took 363 from Bon Wier to Kirbyville) That is why I didn't get home til 1:30AM Sunday morning. I think Woodard said Jackson re-injured his ankle so he may be out a few games. I agree with you on Johnson on getting hurt, but I don't think he's played at all in the last two games. Have you ever heard of a QB draw? That is between the tackles. I understand what you are saying. I just think it is a huge waste of talent for Johnson not to be on the field somewhere and at the moment we are thin at RB.
LamarAlum
I'm sure the guys will enjoy the walk through at UT and hopefully the Austin guys will get a chance to play since they are close to home and have a big Lamar following in Austin. Maybe we will get to see the big 2 star Rivals RB from Austin hit the field since they have so many RB injuries, looks like he may be able to make some things happen. It'd be like running a QB draw every play.

Can't tell with this coaching staff as JJ Hayes was injured (concussion) during an onside kick. I mean you put the guy who just broke the Lamar single game record for yardage in the game for a play with 2:00 minutes left and down by 20. The onside kick has some of the worse collision's in football. Guys we are playing Venson at RB and he is 5'9, 160. At least Johnson is 6'2, 187. LU1991
We will be traveling with the team but didn't know about practice at the UT bubble. Looking forward to it.
05BigRed
I thought there was a concussion protocol where you have to sit out 5 days after you are symptom free...and by the looks of JJ on the sideline after the concussion I bet he will have symptoms for a few days...I'm suprised woodard didn't put.Johnson in for some reps at the end of the game...at least get some snaps and try to get comfortable on the field...instead we let Hayes try to recover an onside kick during a hopeless game...very smart

Davis
People need to think a little more practically about putting Jeremy Johnson at running back... He's your quarterback of the future, put in some Wildcat packages, and let him run from that in open space. There's a lot more that goes into the running back position and throwing a natural quarterback in that spot isn't wise.... The injury bug has not been kind to Lamar, especially at the running back position... Expect Jacob Hanna and Caleb Harmon to see carries on Saturday, and don't be surprised if the Lamar running game actually gets back to normal with those two... They're North-South guys, while Venson is really a third-down running back who will be better served running 12-17 times a game and catching 3-5 passes out of the backfield... Let Hanna and Harmon loosen up the Texas State defense and take that punishment - and dish some out - and Venson can pop a few long ones with a change of pace... A shorter guy stands to do well at this position. You are talking about an extra five inches with not much more weight. He's thin. To be honest, Venson's size is probably not ideal either, but he makes it work.

Guest bigred360
Okay, I admit it was a bad idea to put Johnson in at RB but it is also a bad idea not to see the fastest play on the team on the sidelines for the whole game. Maybe he could play a slot receiver?

Guest CardAmbassador
I agree, we have enough TE's to use him else where, I remember in the IWU game he had a nice little reverse play that he took to the bank but it got called back for a penalty. Put Hannah in to wear 'em down keep using venson like he was used in the SELU game, don't run him up the middle like you did with NWST, they were all over him every time.
