coachacola
Oklahoma's "wishbone" and Houston's "veer" were once ground-based offenses familiar to many college football fans. Those types of offenses are now uncommon. Many Lamar players now have a week to get accustomed to the ground-based triple-option offense used by Texas State. "It presents you with different problems we haven't seen up to this point," Lamar coach Ray Woodard said. Mr.KnowItAll
We have a defense built for spread offenses. I don't like our chances against Fran's boys from Southwest Texas.
coachacola
I don't think our defense is really built for any kind of offense. And it appears Texas State has a good defense, probably not quite as good as NW State's defense, but close. Since Lamar seems to really struggle defensively in the 2nd quarter, if they can hang close to Texas State heading into half time then maybe they can pull out a win. Guest CardAmbassador
Instead of halftime adjustments we need 2nd quarter adjustments. B)
puddin tane
well, the old thinking was get up on a triple option team and make em throw... triple option---like watching paint dry,:pinch:
Guest NorthoftheBorder
I actually enjoy watching a well executed and successful triple option play. What's more exciting than watching a running back make a big play?
Guest CardAmbassador
Yeah I agree with North, the triple option done right is actually pretty entertaining. Now don't get me wrong I prefer a pass oriented team but I could live with the triple option if I had to. Puddin' with our secondary you and I both now that old thinking isn't going to work. What a shame, I wonder if we see TxSt throw it more than usual after they watch our game film?
Big T
If you think tripple-option offence is slow and boring then you need to watch a Georgia Tech and/or a Navy game. There is nothing less boring than watching a very good tripple-option team work. It's almost impossible to stop.
Guest bigred360
There are three important things to beat the triple option. One, you knock the crap out of the QB every play. He is suppost to be their best runnner. Second, the DL's and LB's have to play their responsibility. Finally, the reason most college teams changes to more pass oriented offenses is because is because with a the triple option team if you can get ahead by 14 or more points they have a hard time coming back because the offense isn't designed to score quickly but move the ball 4-5 yards at a time. You want to force them to have to pass the ball. So, in this game I'm more worried about the front 7 than I am about the secondary.

Break him down and you break down the offense.
