Skinny1 Posted April 7, 2021 Share Posted April 7, 2021 Decent crowd out press conference. Brooks stated that he has talked with the returning players and is encouraged that they will return. Heard from a source that does not include Kopp or Harrison though. Plans on announcing staff as soon as possible. Stated staff will have strong Texas connection, and will recruit 409 area code very hard along with Houston area. Says he will have a winning program. Spoke briefly with with Brooks III, congratulated on Baylors National Championship, asked about coming to Lamar and he said he is happy in Waco. Also heard he makes more as an assistant at Baylor than his dad is at Lamar. Bottom line is we can not afford him. Also found out Brooks offered Chappell an assistants job, but Brandon turned him down to take a job at UNLV. Brooks did say he spoke to Tic & Brandon about the returning players and other basketball operations. Also sounds like Buster and Muoka are coming back. Skinny1 Posted April 7, 2021 Share Posted April 7, 2021 Also found out Brooks recruited Nickerson out of high school for U of H, but the Cougs ended up not signing him due to scholarship limits. So Alvin is familiar with Nickerson. Nickerson, Buster, and a handful of other players attended the presser & also said his son Casey will be transferring from Texas A&I to join the team. His speech was a bit long and rambled some, but we have him and look for some improvement. We are looking for improvement I posted some photos and video of the event.
