And within days, Lamar had a new season-opening opponent. Lamar will open the season Sept. 1 at Louisiana-Lafayette after Louisiana Tech asked out of the game so it can play Texas A&M instead, on Aug. 30 in Shreveport, La. So, instead of receiving a $175,000 payout from Louisiana Tech, Lamar will receive $125,000 from ULL, coach Ray Woodard said Thursday.
