Mike Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Spring practice will be after Spring Break this year beginning on March 19th. So far the practices will be closed to the media and public but they will have a Red/White game again at Provost Umphrey but I'm not sure of the date yet. I'll work on getting it. Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Who has the inside track on spring ball...when does it start and how does it play out? I believe spring practices begin after spring break this year. First couple of practices are without pads. I think spring practice last about 4 weeks. The final sping game (Crawfish Bowl) will be a fun game to go out and watch. Only 4 of our signees will be here for spring ball, Courtlin Thompson is still trying to get eligible for LU. This will be a much better spring training because there are alot more open positions. Young guys that we haven't heard much about should make a name for themself this spring. The important thing is that Mossakowski will participate, and from what I've heard so will Berry. The biggest accomplishment will be learning a new system if our D coordinator wants to change and finding out what we have at QB. Quote
Guest McneeseKilla Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Do we know how the injure qbs are doin? Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Do we know how the injure qbs are doin? Um, Jeremy Johnson's injury was his ribs, He should be fine by the spring. Mossakowski's injury has been fine for a while, the only concern there is that he could reinjure himself. Berry broke his foot but I remember hearing that he would be fine once practice starts. I think Everyone will be fine. That's just from what I've heard people tell me though. Quote
Guest McneeseKilla Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Anybody have an edge? Who gets the nod for rb's? Quote
coachacola Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Anybody have an edge? Who gets the nod for rb's? Probably Depaul Garrett. He was the starter before going down last year. Quote
Guest CardinalClaw Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I noticed Jeremy Johnson was in a sling at the basketball game last Wednesday, maybe someone can find out what was up with that. Quote

Johnson's arm was in a sling. I made some calls and it's a minor injury, he has a staff infection but will be ready to go for Spring drills. Quote

No, but people on this forum tend to only post things that are, for the most part, credible. So if he said he saw him with a sling, he probably did. Why call him "some wise guy trying to stur the pot"? Stir is spelled S-T-I-R by the way, chief. Quote

Well professor tbones I'm glad you spell stur with an I, but as far as I'm concerned I spell it with a u so when you decide you want to become an english teacher then you can start comin on here and grading everybody on how they pronunciate words until then jj is fine and dandy and will be ready to go. ;) Quote

My point was this: Why would he lie about seeing Johnson in a sling if he says he saw him at the basketball game in a sling? Why would that be something about which to lie? I'm not picking on you. I'm saying that maybe he did actually see him out in public and saw that as a cause for concern if the potential starting QB was injured again. Let's drop it...no harm done. :) Quote

coachacola Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Who has the scoop on coaches? Anybody got so legit info? So far only Dennis McKnight has been hired to coach the OL and special teams. I haven't seen or heard anything about the DC position or the other assistant coach. Quote

Well it's going to be the most interesting off-season yet, we have a veteran coaching staff in it's first year here. And we have a pretty big turn over on seniors so there are a ton of starting positions wide open. Things I'll be following: Are we changing our offense from the Pistol? Health status of: Kicker, QB's (Berry and Mossakowski), RB, DB's Is there a new tone on the team? (basically are the coaches espousing a more disciplined team. Are the players talking about these changes in a positive light) Are the coaches identifying clear starters or prolonging the competition into camp? How does the secondary look? Really I just want to know who the new starters are going to be and if this coaching staff is a bunch of new yes sir's or are they the type of guys kind of like Knight that are really trying to hold this team to a high standard every day.
