coachacola
From Christopher Dabe: Lamar will announce the hiring of three new football coaches Monday, coach Ray Woodard said Sunday in a text message. The coach already said Feb. 1 the school hired Dennis McKnight to coach the offensive line and special teams, but Monday’s announcement will be about three additional coaches, Woodard said in a message to The Enterprise. Lamar has lost at least two full-time assistants from last year’s staff — former special teams coordinator and receivers coach Brian Mayper to be the head coach at Navarro College, and former offensive line coach Nathan Reeves to be an offensive quality control assistant at Texas A&M. Woodard said last month the school will expand its full-time staff by one coach, so Lamar will enter spring practices, expected to start March 19, with several new coaches. One new coach could carry the title of defensive coordinator, Woodard said last month. coachacola
Bill Bradly will be the new defensive coordinator. Craig McGallion will be the linebackers coach. Allen Johnson will be assistant head coach and supervise the secondary. Larry Kueck will be the wide receivers coach. Chuck Langston will serve as director of football operations. This must mean Whitten is still the OC for now. Also, Dennis McKnight will coach the offensive line and special teams. Guest CardAmbassador
I think that Kueck might be waiting for Whitten's Contract to expire before being named the OC. Just suspicion on my part, but it sure seems like from all we've heard that Whitten is no longer with the team.

Here's what Bob West wrote in his article Sunday: Ultimately, Kueck will become offensive coordinator.
Mike
I'm at presser and recorded Woodards comments. I'll have audio posted later. The 4 new coaches are here and answering questions. Woodard stated that this is all the changes for now. That "whitten and everyone else is still here for now but you never know what will happen". Mike
Jacody Coleman offered his 6th year but he's deciding whether or not to take it. He's graduated and has a job offer and doesn't know what he's going to do.
Guest bigred360
I'm not trying to stir up anyone with this comment but this is a much better coaching staff then last year.

coachacola
So who exactly is going to be the OC next year? Kueck said he has been hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, a position held by Todd Whitten for the last two seasons. Woodard said Kueck's title is that of "offensive assistant." As for how Kueck's hiring impacts Whitten's role, Woodard said he was sorting through that but declined to elaborate. Kueck has been an offensive coordinator at four Division I college football programs - Marshall, Southern Methodist, Southern Mississippi and Mississippi. He was a high school assistant coach for the last four years at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. Guest CardAmbassador
I'm pretty sure that Kueck is the OC in waiting and they're either waiting for Whitten to be officially off the payroll or accept some new job. But Kueck is saying he is the OC, Bob West was saying that he would be the OC in waiting, and anyone that actually sees Whitten regularly thinks he is gone. I think Kueck is pretty much the OC without the title.

Don't let woodard try and fool y'all, whitten is gone and kueck is in... bottom line
coachacola
More from the Beaumont Enterprise: Lamar's newest football coaches have plenty to do over the next two weeks. First, they must figure out just what kind of players they have on hand. Then, they must figure out what they want to teach those players in four weeks of spring practices that start March 19. On defense, that might mean a switch to a 3-4 defensive front, said defensive coordinator Bill Bradley, who learned that scheme as an assistant under Port Neches-Groves graduate Wade Phillips with the Buffalo Bills in the late 1990s. "I like the 3-4 because I learned it inside-out when I was working with Wade Phillips in Buffalo," Bradley said. "He kind of refined it pretty good, and you can see how the Texans did last year."
