coachacola
Christopher Dabe talked to Woodard and this is what he tweeted: All Lamar spring practices will be open to public. First practices are 4 p.m. Tuesday, 7 Wednesday, 4 Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday. Woodard said Lamar has two offensive tackle spots to fill. One graduated and the other, Anthony Oden, is suspended. Woodard said Oden can seek reinstatement to rejoin team, but the coach said he's not sure it well ever reach that point. Woodard talked candidly about self-evaluation after last season. Made organizational changes to let him better oversee program. Woodard expects frequent QB questions until a QB locks down position. He's intrigued by ex Kentucky backup Ryan Mossakowski. I asked Woodard if Todd Whitten will be a coach on the field next week. ... Long pause. ... "No comment." There will be a story in Sunday's @BmtEnterprise highlighting what to watch for at Lamar spring practices, which start Tuesday. And finally this... Lamar fans, let me know if you have questions about spring football. Practices start Tuesday. He has his blog post up: http://blog.beaumontenterprise.com/inthecards/2012/03/16/lamar-spring-practices-open-to-public-other-notes/
Guest McneeseKilla
Is he not intrigued by any of the other qbs or positions? Sounds to me like he's already got his mind made up. Anybody else thinking the same?

Anybody else thinking the same? Woodard has seen the other QBs play, but he hasn't see Mossakowski play. He was a 4-star recruit out of high school so they must think he's capable of making an impact right away.

Guest CardAmbassador
I'm still of the opinion the most talented QB played most of last year. No body lit the world on fire from that position last year, and we had 4 different guys play the position. It also doesn't sound like the starting job has been given away yet. But maybe you have an ear for coaches speak?
Guest McneeseKilla
No I know none of the coaches personally I'm just speaking my mind about the first post. To me if evrybody had an even chance he would say he's intrigued by who will earn the starting qb job instead of just saying he's intrigued by mossakowski. Of course thts my non expert opinion because I'm not a coach so y'all can take it how y'all want to take it.
LU1991
On paper, I would think that Mossakowsk would be the one to beat. Can't wait to see them in action.

Guest bigred360
If only football was played on paper! Nice post as that is very accurate but so is potential. You have to give a kid that was a 4 star recruit coming out of high school a chance. If Coach Woodard didn't give him a fair chance at winning the QB battle in spring ball that would be stupid on his part. BTW, he is the only new QB on the roster, so Coach Woodard pretty much knows what the others can and can't do.
Guest Hookem14
On paper Oden should have been all world, but he was terrible. I watched him a lot and on most plays he was getting ABUSED be someone "on paper" that had no business even being lined up accross from him. That just helps prove that "on paper" means next to nothing. I think he got 2nd team all conference if I remember right, but that was a joke, he only got that because of his name and size. TERRIBLE. Really, you are a member of the media, an SID or coach in the SLC? I mean it sounds like you have game film on the guy. Honestly, I don't care as he is probably gone as I've heard there were locker room issues with last years team. If he isn't a good locker-room guy and is suspended we don't need him or anyone else in thet boat. However, the offensive line works as a unit and if 3 guys are getting beat the whole line looks bad. It's and team game but each player has to win his individual battles.
jdcurran235
Most of the talk on this msg board is about the offensive line and QB. I think we have enough QBs and hopefully we can find a good one in the group. I am still most worried about the O-line. So I put this question out there. How do we solve our O-line issues? Even Woodard has stated this as an obvious issue.

LU1991
I agree, on paper Oden should have made a positive difference but didn't. I thought we had a couple of other play makers until they hit the field. The jury should be out until we see them prove themselves including all QB's. Guest McneeseKilla
I'd like to know how the qb situation is going and if you think there are any stand out recievers. Also if you can try and get a perspective on what the new coaches think of the guys they are inheriting.
