Guest boomer
Football Height:6'5" Weight:290 Dominant Hand:Right Age:17 Position:OT 40 Yard Dash:5.05 Shuttle:4.65 Bench Press:305 Squat:405 Vertical:23 Personal Statement: Hello, I am Hunter Conn and I am currently a junior at Whitehouse High School and a member of the 2013 class. I am interested in playing at the next level and although I have played OLine for years, I am willing to play where needed to the benefit of the team. As of now I am 6'5" and 294 lbs and carry a 82.7 GPA and I expect my GPA to continue to go up, as I am committed to securing the opportunity to play college ball. As I study and workout to meet this goal, I will use the abilities I gain to lead and motivate my team. Academincally grades are also important as my grades will keep me eligible so I do not let my team down. It is important to be dependable, and I can only be a leader if I am dependable. I know it is important to encourage teammates to do well, both in classroom, in workouts, as well as in competition. Competition allows us to support one another, not only on the sidelines, but in the lineman competitions that we attend as well. These competitions are great as they truly allow us to coordinate our efforts and work as a team---that's where I lead is on the field through the weights and in class. I would love to go to UT Austin, or that is one of my dream schools, but my number one is Lamar University because they have made a verbal offer. Mainly, I am looking for a school that will give me the proper education and help to persue my dream of becoming a a nutrition and conditioning coach, while allowing me to attain my athletic goal of playing football at the next level. Playing football is something I have always dreamed of doing so since I was in 7th grade. I know not everyone will be able to play for UT or any big school, most important is that I get a degree and get to play college ball at the same time. All players want to play, but I am willing to red shirt if I must--whatever it takes to be an asset to the team. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Guest CardAmbassador
That's a good sized kid, I was just saying we need more OL's for this year but you can always use Linemen. Hopefully he's great and he sticks with his commitment.
coachacola
From Chris Dabe: Hunter Conn, an O-lineman who committed to Lamar over the weekend, said he's up to 6-6, 290. He's a RT for Whitehouse. Lamar needs stay on him good this next year or some bigger school will steal this guy away.
coachacola
More on Hunter Conn from Chris Dabe: When healthy, Hunter Conn's size and quickness makes him an offensive lineman who is tough to beat. That's among the main reasons Lamar football coaches like the 6-foot-6, 290-pound right tackle. Conn, who will be a senior this fall at Whitehouse High School, verbally committed to Lamar for the 2013 season during a weekend visit, he said Monday. Conn missed early-season games last year because of a concussion and late-season games because of dislocated right kneecap, he said. But when Conn played, he did not allow a single sack, Whitehouse line coach Brad Cook said. Conn said the knee is fully healed, and he recently was timed in the 4.9- to 5.0-second range in the 40-yard dash, which Cook said is quick for a lineman. Guest BigRed2010
It doesn't make sense that we are the only college to offer him a scholarship, an offensive lineman that's 6' 6" 290 lbs and runs the 40yd dash between 4.9 and 5.0 Someone please explain..... coachacola
This guy is only a junior so it's so much nobody wants him but Lamar started recruiting him early. I just hope he stays under the radar his senior year so a bigger name school doesn't come in and steal him away.
Guest BigRed2010
You're probably right Coach. His forty time is very fast for an offensive lineman. Here are the times for the NFL Scouting Combine. http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/02/25/official-40-yard-dash-times-offensive-linemen/
Guest CardAmbassador
Yeah it's definitely not that no one wants him. We don't know what offers he already has, but you have to be very very good to get offers your junior year from the big schools. Since he went to our lineman camp we have a good relationship with him already, and the hiring of Dennis McKnight might be enough to keep him interested until signing day. McKnight seems like a really good coach. What is it with the name Knight!
Guest NorthoftheBorder
Looks like a real good pickup. This commit makes me nervous. Hope he stays with us.
Mike
Looks like a real good pickup. This commit makes me nervous. Hope he stays with us. I think it'll depend on how his senior season goes. If he has a spectacular season and the big dogs notice, we'll see what happens. He said hes dream school was UT-Austin in the statement above so you couldnt ever blame the kid if they came calling and he accepted. Here's hoping he stays with Lamar through it all. Guest bigred360
Man, this kid would be a stud in the SLC. He'll probably gain at least 30 pounds over 4 years of college ball.
